- singing with "ivresse" -
 |
|
| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
(Now part of a series of photos on the same subject : => mystical concert - this is in fact the last of the series !)
Blurred and not very good, but expressive IMHO ; something extremely strong happened there that I'll try to describe.
"euphoria, drunk with cheerful joy, blissfulness, elation, exhilaration, intoxication..." : these are some of the words that could describe his state of mind ("ivresse" in French cannot be translated with simple "drunkenness").
Singing with all his heart and soul, in communion with his public in the forest and with the divine too during the Alevi-Bektashi festival.
Improvisations coming from deep inside, telling about his journey till that moment, his joys and emotions, hardships in life, his love for everyone.
In a small forest not far from Hacibektas, during the festival, I had been attracted by that voice so intense and the song which seemed so deep; they were a bit in retreat in the dense vegetation, only men surrounding him with never-seen-before attitudes that I'll describe in another series of photos.
Here are 2 other shots, though :
- same man (he was often touching his heart) and
- the bigger picture : part of the audience (other photos will follow).
I was invited to sit down, they were very courteous, gave me large portions of fruits - dried or otherwise and something strong to drink ; they were in the same time in total communion with the singer even when talking to each other and after a short while, I entered in the same state of mind by osmosis ; I was not drunk !!! or only with the voice and the strange & friendly public. Magic !
(Amazing to be accepted, even warmly welcomed among them ; in a way, being in my mid 50s is so great to travel, some years ago this would certainly have been problematic...
I would have liked to stay longer, but that time I was not on my own. We had come there to meet Roma people and whe had to leave). |

Salut Cath,
Je vois que tu expérimentes. C'est certainement original et correspond bien à ce que tu veux dire.

Hi Cath,
Please do not apologize for the presentation of the photo, because it would be the perfect way of presenting his state of euphoria. Blur! A psyhedelic blur! I like the effect a lot, indeed, it gives an interesting truth to the power of his feelings.
As always, reading your impressions and experiences is a joy. This time, i like the most those words of yours: "...being in my mid 50s is so great to travel, some years ago this would certainly have been problematic..." Maybe, i should also wait for my 50s, in order to accepted by the people i want to photograph :))
Hugs,
Deniz
Hey tzigany, bratia moi...!!!
(Hey Gypsies, brothers of mine)
My people, my photography...
Dearest Cath...
One of the most touchy, most beautiful photographs in your gallery...
And your note !!
And your decision of posting it...
That's what I call zest for life... Stand up for your believes...
Katarzyna...
There are countless fuzzy, blurred, moved photos - everywhere...
99.9% of them - are complete trash, which sole purpose is to cover up an author's inability to produce something valuable...
Pieces of human limbs (usually legs) caught somewhere on the stairs or the pavements... The same, repeated zillion times 'artistic' glitz - tilting, blurries, high keys - fruit of frustration and ultimately poor result of following some trends, seemingly 'artistic' trends...
Your photo is that rare 0.1% of something very beautiful... Very outstanding...
As much as I abhor the first ones, as much I value this babe of yours ...
Tell you even more...
The same psychedelic face... The face in trans...
The same face had been shown normally - wouldn't be the same face anymore...
The very soul of these people is there...
Their music is there... T heir crying... Their howling...
Don't read me wrong, Cath...
They don't cry for better life...They howl to God to give them even more passion... More desire for love..
Possibly - they cry for the gift of dying with the knife in their hearts...
What a face... WHAT A FACE !!!
Wonderful work, sister...
..........................
Additional aspect of real value of this photo...?
Lack of critiques from the most accomplished ones...
From the outstanding point givers on the site...
From the experts on photography...
Good for you, gal... That's a real proof of your class...
rare cases in photography where i "accept" blur - portraits of people "in action"...
and yet - a serious disadvantage of TE - lack of capabilities to show few photos in a series, as if hanging on the wall of some gallery... because i wish this photo developed into a series about the event... as a standalone - it's got a class on its own, as a piece within a series - it would tell the story more deeply...
anyway, i like this "new fresh air" in your gallery...:-))
best, j.

but exactly the blurriness and movement makes it a picture that leaves me very impressed. it's intense, has a lot of soul.
Très belle séquence, pleine d'émotion ! Merci !
