Photographer's Note

Dune bashing, as they call it there, is one of the favoured pastimes of the Arab denizens of Abu Dhabi, where the 4WD is as much desired for its representation of value and 'values' as it is in middle class Europe, the US or Australia.

In this case the subject is minute and distant, but you can just make out the sole vehicle and owner on the peak of the farther dune. I took this in the desert part of Abu Dhabi, only about two hours from the city itself. There seems to be some kind of litter, maybe grass, in the middle distance, but as the unspoilt furrows show, it must have been borne there on the wind.
