Photographer’s Note

I saw this poster all over Yemen, a pious young girl with some minarets, and the starry sky and the moon.
I ended up calling this poster "cosmic islamic girl" and I usually saw it from the window of the car, so when I stumbled upon it at a small store in Aden while walking with maciekda and m_s_s, I captured it.

Hey - great one. Love how the man and the woman in the poster both stare upwards, kinda like in some kind of god-induced trance
:-) Great everyday scene, and nice elemental juxtaposition - well seen.

did you find out what the poster was meant to tell?
it's somewhat difficult to define what is so appealing in this photo. I know I like how you have composed with the angle the box in the center, the man and the fruit carts framing the poster, I like the stong contrasts and clean colours, and somehow all these elements together create a fascinating inslight into a daily life. impeccable quality too, very nice work.

Haha, what a funny daily life capture, Daniel. What is most striking is the way you captured the vender looking up to the sky as if he was observing the same thing as the girl in the poster. Great shot.

An interesting photo, so much to see and so typical ! I've never been to Yemen but this kind of posters can also be seen everywhere in Iran, also the vegetable shop reminds me of this country (but not the kind of "sarong - lunghi" of course... Super !
