Photographer’s Note
Producing a camera in a Sana'a street was like setting up as the local photographer. People just passing in the street stopped and asked that I take their picture.
Here is one of them.
The knife is a Jambiya, more a clothing accessory than being intended for use, except as when dancing, when they are waved around enthusiastically.

Hello Steve,
A picture that makes me smile. So much unrest and fighting in that poor country, and yet such a gentle and friendly people. This man looks so happy and proud of his jambiya, usually too blunt to harm anyone. Extremely good light and soft colours. Also the sharpness is remarkable for a scan.
Greetings,
Gert

Now THAT'S a knife. Paul Hogan would be jealous. I like your Note accompanying this excellent photo. How friendly of these wonderful people to approach you like this. And I love the look on this man's face, sounds like he'd be a good laugh whether you spoke the same language or not. Thanks for this photo, that man's smile has made my day! Lisa PS: Are you gonna make it up here on 6 Dec??

Hello Steve,
Again, the quality is great and the mood is nice. I think the Jambiya steals the man's thunder.
Great one.

Hello Steve
Such a proud man and such a good scan. I love the dribbles on his jacket! The dof is appropriate and the jambiya not too scary! Tfs, Marlene
