Photographer’s Note

This man is a jambiya street seller, that's why he has so many of them at his belt. He's drinking a mango juice at the same place where I took the picture Tea for the tillerman next to Bab Al Yemen.
The juice, here, made with fresh mangoes, is an absolute delight.

Cet homme est un vendeur de rue de jambiyas, c'est pourquoi il en porte un si grand nombre à sa ceinture. Il boit un just de mangue dans la même gargotte où j'ai pris la photo Tea for the tillerman , juste à côté de Bab Al Yemen. Le jus, ici, est fait avec des mangues fraîches et c'est un délice absolu.

Hi Marine!!

Apart the clock on his arm... this man looks a on an image without time...I am sure that people in Yemen looks that way , more or less, various centuries back!!
A very good daily life capture!!

Marine: there is something incongruous about this Yemnei having an innocuous fruit juice while armed to the teeth - green later. Of course, the blown-out background detracts fro the aesthetics of the shot - but I'm not sure if I would have asked him to change position... have a nice week, c

Je découvre ce soir ta belle galerie et l'excellente qualité de ton travail. Beaucoup de sensibilité et de poésie dans tes images du bout du monde. De beaux portraits, comme celui-ci qui vend des jambiyas! mais, c'est quoi les jambiyas?

J'aime ton sens de l'humour... C'est une photo que je n'aurais pas pensé prendre, je pensais qu'il s'agissait d'un homme spécialement armé et voilà que je lis ton texte... Trop drôle et une chouette photo !
