This will be my third and last photo from the new modern library in surrey. I will however post another one in the WS.
This is one of those simple scenes, nothing spectacular or anything like that, but its the geometry that caught my attention.
Whats funny is that I had just missed out on a woman wearing a bright red jacket sitting on that same chair, and it matched perfectly with the red baskets. I'll have to settle for this woman instead, haha.
I enjoy taking a scene, such as the full library, and cutting it down into smaller portions like this. This is very simple, but I hope you appreciate the finer details as I do.

Hi Craig the lines and curves are very playful, great to make interest in a plane that can be rather dull in standard design. The golden light is great and very warming. I hope all is well!

The curving design of the bookcase was not to be missed. It is very elegant and the warm light inside the shelves creates quite a cosy atmosphere. Reading is fun! But shame on you for missing the lady in red. Did you waste time once again by setting up your tripod? ;-)
Have a nice weekend,

It's the first time that I see a bookshelf with such a curve. Wonderful!
I find this really a very beautiful building but I have the impression that no account had to be taken with limitations in surfaces for the design of the library. Enough space. A luxurious situation for an architect.
Good light management and excellent sharpness.
Best regards, Paul

This library rocks! It has such cool touches and is super modern. I like the curves of the bookcase, and also the lighting inside it. Great POV looking down, too. It was nice to get introduced to this library through your photos.

Love this theme and once again, you've captured a modern space beautifully. The serpentine-shaped cabinet and the reader give the whole space a sense of purpose. Love this one!

Bonsoir, cher Craig,
Décidément, rien n'a été oublié quant au mobilier, celui-ci est en parfaite adéquation avec l'édifice. Les designers devaient être heureux pour réaliser leur projet.
Belle réussite, une fois de plus.

Nice play with the straight and the curvy lines. The human presence, just in case of your previous pictures, puts the cherry on ice.

A beautiful composition, with many geometric elements in it, vertical and horizontal lines in the glass and curves in that original shelf, elegant design, good perspective from a high point.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent clarity.
Good day and happy start to the week.
Very best regards.

I just had to laugh at the thought of you asking if you could set your tripod up in the library rather than could you borrow a book! You must have added loads of interest to the ordinary day of a Surrey librarian!
But, it is a most futuristic library and that curved bookcase is definitely eye-catching. it adds a relaxed atmosphere, especially with the warm shelf lights. I think it is the sort of library that I would enjoy visiting!

I like the efect of the coming throgh the windows on the colours. The point of view is showing the details of the modern display. The presence of the person is animating the scene. Have a nice day.

A great library and modern looking lay out taken from an interesting angle and depth. Given that the mixture of lighting in there, the potential for a bit of a mare is pretty high but actually, the fig & the eye catching warm glow of the 'S' is gorgeous! - being a major element in the frame pulling it all together.
Lovely and even, no massive casts anywhere and not really any blown highlights to speak. It's exciting to be part of this peaceful & spacious interior with nice processing, lovely work.
You have a great eye to spot this, Congrats

Your POV shows the shapes of the library bookcase perfectly. Its curves make a great contrast with the diagonal lines of the windows. The warm colours go really well together too. Excellent photo work, very well spotted.

That library seems to be worth not only for the books one might find them for sure, but specially for its architectural style, furniture and decorations!
Very attractive interior picture!
TFS - congrats,

Ah, here we have the s-shaped bookshelf. A fine micture with the details of the windows. Even how open space there are in the room the guy who is sitting with his nose in a book is probably hardly visable from most of the room as he is hidden in the "s" of the bookshelf. Well managed light. Another great shot of this interesting building. Excellent! TFS.
PS! The WS is wonderful too. What a building:)

Hello Craig ,
The visit of this library was a good oportunity to capture this so interesting interior scene . Graphically , this is superb . I like also the colors . And the presence of the woman reading is a good bonus .
ktanska (29421) 2017-03-20 11:29
Well planned architecture details certainly worth a closer look. That S-shaped bookshelf is nicely illuminated too. And tilted windows are quite original.

Your mini series of this remarkable library inspired me to search for the disc with the Alexandria Library in Egypt which I found and posted. I like the reversed 's' shape of the bookshelf. The avid reader adds scale. Tfs!
mcmtanyel (29608) 2017-04-04 20:43
What can I say, this is a very photogenic library. I would have spent hours there, too, and believe me, it would not be for reading.
ikeharel (79099) 2017-04-11 21:23
This one in the library series, I could say it is the one I most liked (all three are intriguing, though). The S shaped cabinet appearing well lit and sharp, contrast to the grey or off-white glassed oblique roof-windows - a superb architecture's design. The presence of one person gave sense of life / action in a quiet place.
Have a nice new day,
