Photographer's Note

Continuing with my recent series of photos from Vancouver, I'm wanting to show areas of the city that usually go unnoticed - this is certainly one of them in the Chinatown area.

Chinatown at night can be a difficult place to take photos alone, so I made sure my friend Colin and I teamed up. This is another section of Vancouver where you really have to be careful, especially with camera gear and expensive looking equipment.

During the daytime hours its completely the opposite, but at night its mostly drug addicts, drunk party goers and people that sort of just give you a bad feeling.

While Colin and I were photographing this amazing SAI WOO Chicken neon sign, many addicts approached us, but thankfully they were the polite Canadian type haha. No harm came to us.

It was Colin's idea to capture this Neon chicken, its a newly lit neon sign in town - well, not new as the chicken was broken and dull for many years. He noticed the owners of the restaurant must have finally put some money into fixing the neon - money well spent in my mind.

I chose this POV because I was also able to get a reflection in the window, and the person walking by adds some spooky atmosphere. Hope you like it.

There's another close up photo in the WS
