Photographer’s Note
I got up early this morning trying to get a nice blue sky but I didn't quite get there in time the sun had already risen. But I am still posting this shot because I have a new found love for barns. I am addicted to barn shots now. So I will be on the search for new ones in my area. This one is old and delapetated. I found it in my neighbourhood in Surrey, BC (about 30 minutes outside of Vancouver, BC.)

Hi Tosca.
Congratulations with a new camera! As you say, it's not the ideal light, but it is quite good. The barn is not very pretty (in my opinion...), but it is a very good subject to capture. I think the sharpness maybe could have been better, but you will get to know your camera better also.
Regards, Fredrik.

Morning Tosca
I think i know exactly where this barn is. So many photo ops there i'm sure!
i like your idea of composition, with the green grass in the foreground.
I also like the textures and attention to detail with the moss covered rooftops.
Keep your barn theme going.
See you soon

Hi Tosca, Good composition and sufficient light to view the buildings. I like the positioning as you have given the sky and foreground breathing room for the barn. Yes, there is something about old barns that attracts the camera lens. Well Done. Regards, Roger

Hello Tosca,
A good point of view to show us this tumbledown barn in context. I like the muted light and tones, which suit the mood of the subject well. Well rendered textures enhance the sense of dilapidation.

Hi Tosca
Nicely composed but you are right it does need some more dynamic light. Too bad you missed the rising sun but at least it's not too far away to come back to another day.

Hello, Tosca,
It is somewhat surprising to me this hasn't gotten more recognition. Outstanding composition, very realistic looking cloudy morning light. It has a melancholy feel to it and a strange dynamism from the long section of barn about to fall in. Maybe a touch of sharpening? I still think it's a great shot. Well done! Many thanks and warmest wishes,
Shelly

Hi Tosca,
interesting picture well belonging into TrekEarth, as it describes cultural differences. Such a abandoned farm would be only seldomly seen in Europe. TFS, Kind regards, Michael

Nice picture and note. I see why you find fascinating. I would crop the grass in the lower part of the picture as it doesn't really tell much. This way we could focus on the barn.

Hi Tosca,
I love this dilapidated barn, I suspect it's also the source of your very well received minimalist crop. I also like the way you framed the barn in its setting but thought the foreground could use a bit of a crop so I tried a WS.
