Photographer’s Note
Here is the Europe Hotel, located in Gastown Vancouver.
Its the triangular building on the right, it was completed in 1909.
This triangular architectual design is called Flatiron. It was the first reinforced concrete stucture to be built in Canada, and the earliest fireproof Hotel in Western Canada.
The Europe Hotel was the site chosen for the Movie Changeling, starring Angelina Jolie.
This paticluar photo was taken just after sunset. I have some BW photos of it as well, and may upload them at a later time.
Thanks for looking!

Hi Craig
Interesting story about this Hotel. It has a lot of history. I like how you didn't just put in the hotel in the shot, but you gave us a view of the streets as well. I also like how you included the rails in the FG, that we commonly associate with Gastown. Good sharpness and DOF. You are getting many great shots lately.
Keep up the good work,
Tosca

Hi Craig
An excellent blue hour shot. Last night a judge at APAC commented on an image taken at the same time of the Seattle skyline. He said this is the best time to photograph street scenes such as this. This is such an iconic view in Gastown.
Well done.

Hello, Craig!
Beautiful picture of the blue hour, with excellent lighting! Also a very nice street, with beautiful architecture, caught in a very calm time, which gives more beauty to the image! Very good job! Well done!

Hi Craig,
The place is nice and quite inviting for a stroll, namely with this wonderful light you captured so well, enhanced by the reflections on the wet soil. I like also the compo and, of course the odd thin shape of the hotel is another highlight. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the appearance of tilt, which seems stronger than it is in reality because of the natural inclination of the left part introduced by the low POV.
Regards,
José

Craig you are doing very well in timing your captures for the most optimum night lighting. I love how the location has hardly a vehicle causing distraction and the feature here is the architecture of design. On this photo I would consider HDR capturing different exposures and then post process the photo to try and tone down the brightness of the street lamps a little. Also the electric wires could be removed because they are somewhat a distraction here. If there ever were a time I would love to be down town in Gastown for photography it would be at night just after a rain with soaking wet streets bringing wonderful reflections and bright colors. Hope I have not picked this apart too much for you. It is a wonderful shot.
