Vancouver's Pink Sky at Sunrise Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is my second photo of this area in Vancouver - False Creek, its just such a beautiful area I had to upload one more.

This was taken during early morning sunrise. I thought the buildings had a "cubed" type of look to them.

Who knows, maybe i'll upload another photo of False Creek! I do have some Blue Hour morning photos to share as well.

love this photo! the reflection of the sun on the sea is tops... clarity of architectural details in the building is impressive. colors are just right, not too saturated yet inviting. cheers and thanks for sharing!

Ah you're making me homesick Craig! This area is great, such opportunity for great shots with the buildings and the water- especially in the mornings. Alvin Brown (CORMAC) frequents false creek for many of his shots.
Excellent exposure, sharp detail and natural color. My only suggestion is a very slight counterclockwise rotation to correct the horizon. Click this link for an easy fix that I use. The same method can be used on the vertical as well. In this case I would draw the line from the edge of the building to the edge of the building in the reflection.

Craig the reflections here at False Creek are very nice. Good balance of water spacing, and high rise placing inside the frame. The morning tones are subtle, and evoke a very calm mood here. Very nice.

Very nice indeed. The reflections are nicely blurred with the slight movement of the water. Well composed with the one sailboat anchored to the left of all the others. Yes let's see the blue hour shots.

This photo is amazing, like an oil painting. This is truly a feast for the eyes. The reflections are stunning to look at, with all the soft colours and the water looks so pristine. Then there are the boats on the right with their masts reaching toward the sky. The buildings are icy blue and the details of them are sharp and clear. The sky is beautiful too with its pink hue. To me what draws me to this photo though are those reflections...Perfect! Great overall composition.

It almost looks like an aquarel painting.
The blue buildings are lit beautifully by the fantastic (with a lovely shade of pink) sky.

Hello Craig, The light is fantastic in this harbour scene & that's not the only thing, detail, clarity,colour, silky water & reflections, all combine to make this a very nice looking shot. I keep looking at the tall buildings in the BG, their windows are so clear & pronounced, a lovely shot that reminds me of Melbourne, well captured. Well done.

Superb photograph that I will have liked to make, I like much this composition from where a pleasant atmosphere emerges from softness. Beautiful pink sky enhanced by the blurry reflections in the water. There's a lot of verticals here from the tall skyscrapers to the masts of the boats. But its the pink sky and the low light is what makes this a visual treat...well done!

even light touching not bright but give a nice colors color especially the sky.

I love the soft colors of this early morning photo. The boats against the skyline make a very effective composition.

Copenhagen is my favorite city too, the people seem so happy. I also have similar regrets about my first big trip - to Australia and NZ, excepy my camera was a little Coolpix.

Olá Craig, this is wonderful. The reflections is what I like more, but the impact of those buildings is also great, even if it's not such a pretty architecture. The whole set and the pink tones make a very enjoyable photo. It brings me nice memories too. I had fun here, 15years ago...

All in all, I don't like urban landscapes, and mostly I skip such pictures.
But this one is quite interesting.
I don't know why ...
Maybe because of the soft pinkish colours or the compound an urban architecture with the remains of nature life (I mean the lake or the river).
Anyway it looks quite unusual and futurist.
