Photographer's Note

Prairie grain elevators once dotted western Canada, storage for farmers crops. Now the majestic sentinals are being demolished. The elevators were built on concrete foundations and stand 70-80 feet high with a gable at the top to accommodate the elevating machinery. Inside are 16 or 18 storage bins. The outer walls consist two-by-six boards laid flat and spiked together to withstand the pressure as the bins are filled
