Photographer's Note

We followed the boardwalk west to the Rectory. This may well have been the heart of Batoche - the building is of two storeys and an attic, with a gable roof and eaves. Behind the fence, I noted a worker attending to a small garden. This was home for the priest with his small bedroom, another for the bishop should he visit, a sewing machine, a dining area with a rifle above a doorway. On the second floor, a small area serves for a classroom, there is a post office for the community, and a small chapel - talk about mulit-function, and this building was it!
