Photographer's Note

Canada have many scultures on park and streets. This one named "Fisrt Jewel" inside the Botanical Garden.

Is is placed in the heart of the rose garden and represent a young woman with the necklace. This magnificent bronze sculpture is the work of Alice Winant (1928-1989). Shortly after the artist's death, the statue was donated to the City of Montreal.

The copper necklace that this young woman carried in her hands, disappeared shortly after its inauguration and all attempts to replace it failed, the necklaces disappearing in turn.

When I saw the sculture without the necklace and know nothing about it I thought it was a woman crying for a lost baby.
