The Valley of the Five Lakes is a popular area in Jasper National Park. From a trailhead located right aside the Icefields Parkway (Hwy 93), one can do a pleasant half-day hike. The undulating trail - which is also mountain bike accessible - leads past the eastern shores of three of the five charming lakes filling a north-south depression. The other two, much larger ones, can be seen and visited by side paths. The lakes are numbered from their proximity to the townsite of Jasper. At First and Fifth lakes, there are boats that can be rented in advance from sports shops in Jasper.

This photo was taken at the western shore of Fifth Lake. It is stitched from 5 photos, using the 'in-camera stitching' feature of the small compact camera. Unfortunately, I had to compress the large version quite a bit to fit below the 400 KB limit (I wonder why the large-post limit isn't 600 KB now, as the size for a regular post has been lifted to 300 KB).

Bonsoir norbert
Un bien joli panorama et un assemblage parfait. Malheureusement je trouve l'ensemble un peu surexposé.
Cordialement
JMarc

This is a very good shot, and I'm quite interested to hear that you could accomplish this in camera. The result is quite natural looking and beautiful. I like the way you used that boat down at the left corner to anchor the shot and have the rest of the scene extend out from there. Beautiful work!

Hi Norbert

Looks gorgeous. I can hardly wait to see it up close & personal. The boat is well placed at left & makes a fine anchor point. Tfs!

Hello Norbert,

Five pictures stitching make this picture very well.
We get a completely view about the lake, together with the reflection of the clouds.
Lovely composition, colours and presentation are very well. TFS.

Best regards,
John.

Very idyllic this pano of the lake with the lone boat at the shore Norbert. And I think the clear water says something of a pure nature spot here.

Hi Norbert,
So the D200 was too heavy to carry up there ? Less known than the other ones this lake but equally beautiful considering the water color in the distance, the compact took some quality awa in terms of sharpening and highlights rendering but the stitch is excellent to deliver a wide impression... wish I was there ;-)
Have a nice day JY

Hello Norbert,
I think I prefer the large one because the boat seems to be cropped a bit here.
By the way, let me inform you that Ricardo (Riclopes ) has arranged for a TE meeting on Sunday morning: starting at the Tivoli Hotel at 9.30 I am not very hopeful that you'll make it but I am giving you the appointment time anyway.

Bonjour, mon ami Norbert,
Philippe
