Photographer’s Note
This photograph was taken on one of my many trips to the park . It was a very sunny , warm day and this statue called "the Fighting Newfoundlander"is a reminder of our commitment to the war .
In fact our financial burden , due to our commitment to the war , nearly bankrupt our country . As a result , they were eventually given a choice to join Canada which we did by the narrowest of margins .
Many Newfoundland lives were lost overseas and I always give thanks to the brave men and women who served ,when I see this statue .

Jim,
Very thoughtful topic, and I appreciate it. I agree with you. Soldiers are one of the few groups who are my heroes. Could only suggest here that you get another pic with facial view of that statue...Thanks. By the way, is this near St John's? I've been there.
