Photographer's Note

The Hermanos Hospitalarios de Nuestra Señora de Belén, the first order in America, built this temple and the adjacent hospital for sick people. The temple was finished in 1700, and its facade remodeled in 1797, redone in petatillo and talavera allegories, prime examples of the best of Puebla's Baroque style.
The atrium's doorway that provided access to the old hospital contains a lovely tecali rock relief representing the Nativity scene. The hospital functioned as a headquarters for the Pontificio Seminario Conciliar and raised to the category of Universidad Católica Angelopolitana untill 1914.
Today the former hospital is a museum and library.
