| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
A family vacation took a brief detour from the hustle of modern day travel when we went to Chichen Itza. Tucked away into the peninsula, I can imagine the surprise of its discovery by the western world. The beauty and preservation only add to its grandeur.
I was unexpectedly met though, by hundreds and hundreds of vendors, most of them undoubtedly of strong Mayan heritage, who spend sunrise to sundown here in hopes of making a few pesos. Near the end of the tour, I saw this old woman who, despite her feeble nature, appeared to still be forced into the lifestyle of living off of the blessed tourist, me. |
