View of Uxmal taken late afternoon from the grand pyramid. Seen are the Adivino (Pyramid of the magician) at left, and the wall of the Governor's Palace at right. Workshop photos will show closeups of these.
From Wikipedia:

Uxmal is a large Pre-Columbian ruined city of the Maya civilization in the state of Yucatán, Mexico. Uxmal is pronounced "Oosh-mahl". The place name is Pre-Columbian and it is usually assumed to be an archaic Maya language phrase meaning "Built Three Times", although some scholars of the Maya language dispute this derivation.

While much work has been done at the popular tourist destination of Uxmal to consolidate and restore buildings, little in the way of serious archeological excavation and research has been done here, therefore the city's dates of occupation are unknown and the estimated population (about 25,000 people) is at present only a very rough guess subject to change upon better data. Most of the architecture visible today was built between about 700 and 1100.

Even before the restoration work Uxmal was in better condition than many other Maya sites thanks to being unusually well built. Much was built with well cut stones not relying on plaster to hold the building together.
Some of the more noteworthy buildings include:

The Governor's Palace, a long low building atop a huge platform, with the longest façades in Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica.
The Adivino or "Pyramid of the Magician", a fine pyramid temple unusual in several ways. The layers of the step pyramid are oval, rather than the usual rectangular or square shape. It was a common practice in Mesoamerica to build new temple pyramids atop older ones, but here a newer pyramid was built centered slightly to the east of the older pyramid, so that on the west side the temple atop the old pyramid is preserved, with the newer temple above it.

Hi Tan,

Great composition with outstanding perspective.

The colors and contrast look very good and the note is fantastic.

Thanks for sharing!
Best regards,
Carlos

Hey Tan. Yes this is a place I've always wanted to see. That's very artistic the way you worked the two buildings together. You have no shortage of clouds either. Great note and excellent shot Tan!

fabulous framing, and the sky is gorgeous. There's so much power to this photo the quietstrenght of the clouds and the building combine well.
The blues are simply great.

Hello Tan,
superb pov although difficult to be original in such known places. The sky is really great as well. Well done.
Very interesting note.
Best regards. Christian

Hi Tan
Great "ancient" image. I like the pyramid and the sky, but the wall on the right disturbs me a little.
Greetings

Hi Tan

I like the layered clouds, above the pyramid, but there is some minor noise in the blue part of the sky. (Easily fixed in photoshop). The pov & sharpness are outstanding. Good work!

Hi Tan,
Fantastic perspective of that mystical place. I like the compositon and perfect sharpness. The blue sky with clouds looks very interesting in comparison to green of forest. Very well done.
Best wishes for 2006!
Andrzej

Hi Tan,
Fantastic capture of this very old and beautiful monuments in a excelent angle of view and in a vertical format. Strong blue sky with fine clouds contrasting so well with these historic old buildings. Splendid enquadrement and point of view. Many precious details so well captured. Good colors, contrast and fine shapness.

A great work, capture and perspective you did so well. Congratulations and my votes of a happy new year to you and family. All the best to you
Fernando

Wonderful composition! I like the way you used the corner of the building to give this some depth and perspective. It also allows you to show close up detail and the overall shape in one shot. The sky is also a very strong element in this, with the deep blue colour and the clouds. Great work!

alut tan
a framing very good of pyramid, You us pleasing of Thailand in Mexico in a photograph, fantastic thank you of the division

Hi Tan
Les lignes seches des monuments font un contraste étonnant avec la rondeur des nuages.

Hi Tan
Your gallery is a virtual photographic encyclopaedia. Like the pyramid against the sky. The wall on the right leads us into the picture. Excellently composed!
