185- Shanti Guest House, a photo from Karnataka, Sud

Photographer's Note

This was our hotel just across the river from Hampi Bazaar.
Each hut was a double room, with a double thatched roof too, one for the room and one for the terrace.
When we arrived in the morning, we had spent a night on the train, so this place was like paradise.
Our terrace looked on to the rice-paddies just the other side of the grassy alley.
We spent a good part of the afternoon just resting and observing life around us.
Women were tidying up the grounds, drying their washing as you can see from the saris spread on the grass.
In WS, I also show a view of the rice paddies in front.

partirei volentieri per spendere qualche giorno in un posto incantevole come quello che ci mostri, immersi nel verde, a contatto con la natura.
Quelle stuoie distese a terra sono molto invitanti ed aggiungono un bel tocco di colore ad una scena già molto bella. Complimenti per la bella foto e per il bel viaggio. Saluti.

Hello Marie,

I come from Karnataka but never visited Hampi. This is a lovely hotel with thatched cottages surrounded by greenery. The sarees which are spread for drying make nice color contrast against the green lawn. I must visit this place on my next trip to India.

nice the view of this green place with the huts to create an excellent perspective in the scene.
I like the washing and drying saris on the grass,creating a beautiful optical effect and
living someone in these huts must be a great experience.Excellent the light and the colour management of the image.

C'est un hôtel de rêve, sans luxe apparent, très accueillant et convivial. La photo parfaitement cadrée décrit bien le lieu. La lumière, les couleurs et la netteté sont excellentes. Bravo.

You sound to have had 'real' experiences of the country. I love your angled pov which draws the eyes naturally into the shot. The details tell us much about India from the thatched roofs to the colourful, drying saris.

Interesting photo of a region unknown to me. Great composition, beautiful carpets in the houses they stain color. I suspect that the village is not near the Mumbai-Delhi highway is :-)

The answer to your question :: Great dining, Oxford, in Christ Church College, the picture on the left, Gothic building. You shot some scenes of Harry Potter. Unfortunately, when I was there, this section was closed due to events. I would add, not the Harry Potter film because I wanted to see, but the. Of architecture.

Anyway, if you're in England, Oxford is definitely worth a day.

Bonjour, Marie Louise,
cet hôtel avec ces cabanes traditionnelles est très joli, est entouré par un paysage splendide et par une végétation exubérante, et semble très confortable.
Ta photo nous offre toute cette beauté, dans une image bien illuminée, avec des couleurs bien rendues, et dans un cadrage très efficace.
Un beau travail, sans doute.

Hi Marielouise,

This is simple charming, I'm glad to see yuou get to stay here. I would be happy to stay here if I were to visit. I love how the fabric are layout to dry in the sun on the glass, almost like a picnic. I just want to go down and sit there and enjoy a nice lunch :)

I also like the roof made of straws, very down to earth and make it very notalgic.

Hi Marie-Louise,

A beautiful and very unusual photo with the colourful saris drying on the grass. You had an excellent POV from your terrace. You could really make use of the strong diagonal line and even if you were not able to include the saris in their entirety I believe that is was the best choice compositionwise.
