Room With a View, a photo from Berat, South

Photographer's Note

This is a part of the town of Poliçan (pronounced Politchan). These buildings are mainly one and two bed flats. There were the last to be built under the communist regime in middle 80s. At that time they were much sought after, they were given to families by the local council based on "means testing", the whole process was corrupt and you would only get a flat in there if you "knew the right person" or paid "the right bribe!". These flats were donated free of charge to whoever lived in there in early 1990s by the new first ever elected government. The flats are very much full nowadays, they provide basic but reasonable living enviroments will all modern amenities such as electrick, bathroom, water etc.The best thing of all is that their occupiers do not have to pay a mortgage!

The view at the back is that a Tomorri mountain stopping all the clouds from going East!

Hello Aleks,

As usual, you have provided and interesting and informative note. And I can see that life in Albania nowadays must be very much better than it was in the days of communist rule.

The houses do not look very pretty but your picture is well taken and, of course, we have your favourite mountain in the background! Good exposure and colours and excellent sharpness and detail. Those clouds "rolling" against the side of Tomorri mountain are superb!

Interesting story about the building. I like the thick white clouds above covering the mountain top. And also the green forest framing the building. Regards. Latiff.

A Happy new year to you. This is a nice start with a well composed picture, almost showing your favourite mountain. The picture is nicely structured in four layers with the sky on top, followed by clouds, forest and houses. I also read the note with great interest.

Exactly of the clouds are bloated behind the mountains, amazing taken.
