Portaria Acquasparta – (TR)
It is a town of 425 inhabitants 6 km away from the town of Acquasparta.
It is located along the ancient diverticolo of the via Flaminia, between Carsulae and Spoleto.
The area is probably inhabited since Roman times, a Roman tomb, used until recently as an agricultural annex, is not far away.
The ancient name was Porcaria and testifies the existence in this area, rich in woods suitable for grazing pigs, a primitive pastoral settlement and appears for the first time in 1093 when the descendants of Count Arnolfo gave the abbey of Montecassino two monasteries with their annexes "in the curte de Porcaria, omnia qualiter pertinet in Comitatu Narniensi".
