Photographer's Note
‘Uppsala - Painted in the river’
My previous post was also the Domkyrka of Uppsala. Actually on this picture you can see only its reflection in the river Fyrisån and not the cathedral itself.
In the center of Uppsala a footpath runs along the river. Along this path – with beautiful weather – you can enjoy lots of wonderful reflections in the water. Reflections of the colourful houses along the river, reflections of the many bridges and also of the cathedral.
Inspired by other photos on TE I decided to invert the image and here it is. Only the bridge, the path and the trees of the normal view are visible. The Domkyrka is inverted. In the WS you can find the normal view.
The weather hasn’t been clear all day but it was very sunny when I took this picture and I was surprised by the clarity and the colours of the reflection.
One of the things I like on TE is that other people can inspire you with their pictures. You get new ideas and sometimes it works wonderfully for me.
Somehow I’m quite happy with this result. I’d like to here your opinions/comments about how to improve this picture (or my other pictures).

Dag Paul,

Well done and TFS!

Hi Paul
Very creative shot indeed looks like a painting and cleverly inverted to make the reflection as main image
Great reflections and colours in particular love the mixture of greyish blue sky and lots of greenery.
The contrast to steeples is fantastic, such a pretty composition in cheery subtle light. Marvelous capture.
Best regards

Hello Paul. Church and suspension bridge. Really a great photo. When I saw the thumbnail, I thought of a normal photo. But no, it is a very successful mirroring. You have realized this Photo motif masterfully. My appreciation for it. Rgds, Wolfgang.

Hi Paul,
this one is a kind of composition based on reflections and inverting the image, which I have done often.
If some of my photos has served you as inspiration to create this beauty, I feel very satisfied, because this is the spirit of TE!
It is a delicious image, as a painting, which you have realized skillfully, obtaining a great aesthetical and graphical result, full of beautiful colours.
Best regards,
Josep

Hello Paul.
A very beautiful composition, as the wonderful place with beautiful cathedral and plenty of trees along the river, join the superb reflexes that occur in the river, the image of WS with the total reflection of the cathedral is stunning, looks like a painting .
A beautiful lighting that seems of late, with a soft color that gives charm to the picture.
Good Sunday afternoon.
Best regards.
Luis.

Hello Paul,
I also sometimes feel that the reflected picture is much more graphically appealing than the reality. I have posted some images like this too a while ago. I noticed the pastel colors which was also in the post with the cathedral. I find them much more suitable for a summer setting, than the normal ones.

Hello Paul,
The reflections are gorgeous and bright colors. Actually, as you well say, looks like a painting by that slight distortion of the water.
Very well seen and well done!

Hello Paul,
You have tried to confuse me. First look I thought - ouch - another trial to make HDR. Now I see that you simply turned a reflection upside down and achieved this surreal looking result. Indeed - this could be a painting from a artist having had some glasses of wine.
Well sen and done. TFS,
Thomas
