Photographer's Note

A fisherman is checking and tightening his boat’s rope just before high tide period on Suriname River. His boat’s already sink in mud like other boats during low tide.

Low and high tide is draws fishermen daily life and they must arrange all their movement with next tide periods. During low tide they can not leave for new hunt or can not enter to the harbor.

Suriname River : The Suriname River is 480 km long and flows through the country of Suriname. Its sources are located in the Guiana Highlands on the border between the Wilhelmina Mountains and the Eilerts de Haan Mountains (where it is known as the Gran Rio). The river flows below the reservoir along Brokopondo, Berg en Dal, the migrant communities Klaaskreek and Nieuw-Lombè, Jodensavanne, Carolina, Ornamibo and Domburg, before reaching the capital Paramaribo on the left bank and Meerzorg on the right bank. At Nieuw-Amsterdam it is joined by the Commewijne and immediately thereafter at the sandspit Braamspunt it flows into the Atlantic Ocean.

The river has several sets of rapids as well as a few dams, the largest of which is the Afobakadam. The river's flow is interrupted by the Brokopondo Reservoir, which therefore divides the river into two sections. The upstream section runs almost entirely through the Sipaliwini district, and the downstream section runs through the Brokopondo, Para, Commewijne, Wanica and Paramaribo districts.

One thing that Surinam seems to have an abundance of is wonderful big skies with great cloud formations, something that I've noticed in previous postings of yours.
The same is true here; great sky, and I like how you composed this to give equal weight to both the sky and the muddy brown river.
There's a bit of over-exposure in the clouds, but not enough to worry too much about.

Aaaah - the great clouds again, they seem endless and very frequent at this part of the world, and I imagine that there's not a single cloud in the morning an that they start popping out daily after 11.00 am. In any case you are certainly to be praised for showing them in most of your pictures: I am also impressed by the brownish , perhaps muddy tone of the sea. I really combines well the the blue and the white.

It's interesting that you would stitch this from two vertical shots...it seems that the proportions are right for a nice horizontal photo. Anyhow, the density of the clouds is amazing. The polariser is a fantastic piece of equipment. it's always intersting to see how muddy this river always is. Why is there such high levels of mud in this river?

Observing your photo, it calls the attention to me that in the horizon is not appraised the typical terrestrial curvature, like in many other scenes.

Again that incredible skies full of cotton-like clouds (I love them!). I guess they have to be very common in Surinam, am I wrong?.

Dear Ertugrul,
Your very good composition send me in the back of my life.
I workked at Paramaribo in rice fields,From the 80 to 86 years.... before...war...
I loved this town ,the bridge on the river and the parbo beer and Albina and too mutch things...
I was happy and I felled a very good emotion to be back in Suriname with cloudy shy in suriname water ,the color of a nice part of my life.

I was wondering how you achieved such a composition. The stitching of the two pictures is a clever way to do it. The look is a bit unrealistic but it is probably closer to what the human eye can perceive by adapting a bit. Good job.
