The "EL"(also written "L")is the rapid transit system serving the city of Chicago and some of its surrounding suburbs. It is operated by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). It is the second longest rapid transit system in total track mileage in the United States, after the New York City Subway. The oldest sections of the 'L' started operating in 1892.The 'L' consists of eight rapid transit lines laid out in a spoke-hub distribution paradigm mainly focusing transit towards the Loop. Although the 'L' gained its nickname because large parts of the system are elevated, portions of the network are underground, at grade level, or open cut.
For transportation freak like me,it was really a great expirence to use these trains for a week. They may not be modern, but they certainly have their charm. And I must admit,it was one of the reasons why I went to Chicago.

Hola Krzysztof :
Interesting takes on B / W,
the contrasts are correct,
excellent definition and although
the sky has been overexposed,
the result is good.
Saludos amigo y feliz domingo.

bardzo ciekawa kompozycja w kolorach B&W, bardzo dobra ostrosc, swietny punkt widzenia, contrast. Takie koleje przydalyby sie tutaj, odciazyloby wieksza ilosc somochodow. Ale to raczej tutaj niemozliwe.Bardzo przyjemne zdjecie.

I am no fan of black and white, I would in future places a second picture in color.
Sharpness and clarity are fantastic.
Depth and perspective are nice for look at.
Excellent captured and nice composed.
Very well done, TFS.

fantasy of Chicago, a photo, no age, perhaps 60 years, a beautiful selection of black and white.
Congratulations and well done.

eccellente questo bianco e neroche dà l'idea del metallico.
Ottima la nitidezza e molto buono l'effetto prospettico.

nice the view in this B/W format of the EL. Informative your note about it,with the tall buildings on the backdrop to complete the image.

Very nice and well-composed train photo.Great diagonal lines and I really like the inclusion of some pepole on the platform and the tall buildings around the station. Very nice and informative note. TFS and have a nice evening!

Hi Krzystof, well chosen B/W mode, it looks like from the thirties, good idea. Thanks for sharing. Kind regards, Michael

A very good composition, whose haul in B & W seems to go back to the 30's, I like the construction of the building on the left, the train also appears to be of the time with this line so classic.
A great job with good sharpness and good level of gray. Well done.
Spend a nice afternoon.
All the best.

Attractive shot in B&W, very clean. Good deal of balance and interesting architecture.

the B/W format of the scene is fine with the view of the coming EL train to be well captured. The clarity of the image is superb.

The image is almost surreal or is surrealistic. The train is there in front of you still without any sign of movement, and I only see two people in a far distance, and in the shadow, as if the time has frozen everything. In this particular photograph, having cloudy sky might have been to your interest, on your side. In the buildings too, there is absolutely no sign of people living or working in it. I like the image very much. B/W image at its best. In this particular image, absence of color is extremely important. You have made a very important choice not to include the color, my admiration to you.
Very best regards,

Your choise of B&W pic. is right: the grey sky in colors would creat a strong backlight-effect on image.
A unique architecture on the house on left, match well into the overwhal scenery. Excelent long view on the train and tracks.
A good take,

¦wietny portret najbardziej chyba klimatycznego miasta w Stanach.

I know I'm repeating myself with this, but I just love the nostalgic appeal from these black & white pictures of Chicago. And these ones of the "El" carry even more of that notion. Another strong, long reaching perspective as the tracks can be made out into the far distance, taking the eye on a journey of its own through the frame. What really grabs my attention though are the brighter windows of the adjacent building from the suns reflection. It kind of creates a patchwork of graphic design and pattern into the urban scenery. Good thing I was able to have this one left to comment on in your gallery, it's perfect timing with the one I posted today. :) Thanks again for the help on that. Take it easy amigo. Talk to you over the weekend.
Cheers from the desert,
