Photographer's Note

This is a lovely memorial dedicated to the many thousands of pioneer women who settled Kansas, enduring unimaginable hardship, building homes and bearing children along the way, many of whom are the descendants of those who inhabit the many towns and cities of Kansas today. Some still live on and farm the homesteads established by their ancestors generations ago. This memorial is located on the grounds of the Kansas State House.
