Photographer's Note

The famous statue of Harry S. Truman, who is seemingly standing guard and maintaining a vigil in front of the old historic courthouse in Independence, MO. Some people objected to his lack of a hat in this sculpture, something he was never without on his real walks. Truman returned to his home town after his tenure in office, and continued to live in a family home, now the Truman Home National Historic Site, which is open, free of charge, to visitors, via guided tour. The Presidential Library is even more monumental, however, and is a must-see for anyone in the Kansas City area (a suburb of Independence, to Harry Truman!).
