american falls. i was not sure whether i wanted to post this at all, but there was something i liked in this mix of purple (i know, some folks HATE that color), black and white combination. i know, i know, the shot lacks any reference of scale: but that's also why i liked it the way it was - with no hint of the surrounding urbanization (discounting the artificial out-worldly light) or eager pilgrim crowds. for a version of niagara with proper references of scale, check out the post i made a few days ago.

have a great weekend, folks!

I definitely like this moody and abstract photo, the effect of the long exposure works very well to create a dreamy mood, so different from what the place is really like. before actually seeing it, I had a somewhat similar and mystic image in my mind of the Falls, and I think I'm choosing to remember the place as shown here :) subtle and elegant photo, I like it.

hugs,
K.

Hi Kristaps,

I also like what I see. Interesting graphism and fine abstratism. It looks darker than it really is and the resultanting effect pleases very much. Very good job!

Carlos

Hello Kristaps,
an artistic photo with the tints combination of the purple color! The white part of the image make the scene more attractive and elegance.A difficult photo that is taken under difficult lighting conditions.Well done.

Have a nice week,danos

Hey Kristaps
One excellent idea and realistion with nice dark colors
Well i have long time not seen work like this one
TFS
Cheers,Braca

Kristaps, I think my failing eye sight is severely tested on this one. I like the feel of it for sure but the part of me that strains to see what it is made of has given up. What I need to do now is go see it for myself from the Canadian side so that I know what I am seeing. Great shot by the way, sorry it took so llong to getting around to saying that.

Greg

Hi Kristaps,

Bonjour Kristaps,
une approchge très graphique et abstraites des chutes qui sans la note n'avient aucune chance d'être reconnus.
Bravo pour l'audace ici.
Regards.

This is amazing photo my friend
Very beautiful colours and nice effect
Best regards
Nick

Hi, Kristaps -

Well, it is definitely a different view of the falls! Very moody and abstract, and clearly intentional, as rock wall is perfectly crisp. The bit of purple mist at center left is also a nice touch. I'll even allow that the white lines work here.

Best,
Dan

I also don't know why I like this, but the fact is that I like it. Maybe it's the experimental mood of it, or the blackness that surrounds the scene, but that white and purple water really work well with all the darkness. Strange, but beautiful.

hi kristaps,
most abstract yet quite poetic...
interesting how colours and dark areas can change the "meaning of nature"...
nice one,
bw, j.

Hi kristaps my friend,
what an artistic shot.
Wow great one I cant regocnize something without your note
great one
well done
Toba

Hello Kristaps,

To me these are evocative of the lines in a diffraction grating, showing the emission spectrum of the hydrogen gas. I cannot imagine anyone disliking the color purple. I'm glad you posted this image.
Warm regards from Providence, RI.

Kristaps,
Scale-less? What's that mean? It looks mysterious for me. there's the unknown and hidden danger feel to the image yet beautiful and moody. The color and tone is very beautiful. Welcome back, Friend. Good to see you're active again. I know this may be fun, but I find I spend too much time on the computer since I become active here, so it's nice to take a short break, not too long though.

Hi Kristaps,
I see you are taking full advantage of the brilliant light on the the night time falls.
Lovely slow expousre shot with wonderful vary shades of purple that contrast nicley with the milky white on the right.
Regards, Tom

You have "invented" the falls new :) I mean it is not the falls' fault that thousands of tourists give them a shallow aftertaste but this is what stays sometimes. But now I see it a bit different and the potential behind it if you take your time and have a closer look. I like the dark mood and how the purple and white flows down in a constant stream. It is worth to be brave and show something different. Exciting indeed. Have a good working day, mine is ending soon ... Barbara.

Although what you mention on your note, I look at this photo and like it lot: its smoothness and softness, the light and the colour, ... probably against some rules, but rules sometimes are meant to be ignored.

A really artistic approach for this well done picture Kristaps, I like it a lot!!
A minimalistic appeal but with soul, compliments!!!

have a nice day,
Fabio.

Hey Kristaps,

Wonderful job, very creative, something out of the ordinary, surreal yet intriguingly interesting to look at! I like the blue falls as well, like the 'Niagra in Dry Ice'!

All the best!

Jom

I prefer the previous one, mainly because of the colour; nothing to do with scale. However this one has its own charm as an abstract as I think you intended. I think the best part of this is the spotlight on the white part on the right. It adds some kind of an air of mystery. In fact the longer I look at it the better I like it.

Hi Kristaps,
I like the previous shot better, this one looks a little underexposed to me on the left. Having said that, the white color is exposed correctly. I guess, some colors are really difficult to capture after all :)
Thanks for sharing,
Shaeri

Hi Kristaps,
moody and intriguing, dark and stylish, very subtle.
I like pictures portraying an impression rather than a matter-of-factly view, assuming they are GOOD. This one is, so... I like it, he he!
Now, I'm in the process of wrapping up and working out all sort of stuff before leaving to the USA (Aug. 3 to 26), so I don't think I'll be posting again until late August/early Septemper. But I'll be checking out stuff on TE whenever possible in the next few days.
In any case : you have a wonderful weekend and a wonderful summer!
I'll see ya later on.
Cheers,
Fulvio.

hello Kristaps,

Nice and amazing minimalistic picture. I like it !
Bonne soirée
Marie

Hello Kristaps,
Beautiful and very original way of photographing the falls. Excellent effects and colors.
Good weekend.
Greetings,
Charo

Hi Kristaps,
I am glad you posted this one. Of a much seen place, you've managed to make something original, almost abstract, concentrating on colors, textures, mood. Must have been a difficult job with the light...love the softness of it, that white part makes it look quite elegant, I can imagine the crowds around it during the day...here the night gives it a beautiful mystery. Excellent work.

Hope you are well too, I see that you are posting less too...
Kindest regards
Michèle

Kristaps,
I see that you got back active to TE while I was gone. Quite interesting production that you posted since then. This is probably the most out-of-the-box of all of them I must have to say that it aslo the one that impresses me most. Don't misunderstand me your Yellowstone shots are good (OK, very good!), but this one has a huge originality. Great vision and excellent execution. I wish it would be in my gallery ...!
Peter

Long exposures at Niagara - this is the thing to be tried when I visit the place in October. I will bear in mind this photo, and will post the result of it... By seeing lots of photos from there I am left with an impression that colours are changing randomly in the night. I saw Avene posting of Red Niagara shot...

Regards,

Asparuh

Hi Kristaps,
Do not underestimate this photo!
By now, it is the most innovative and imaginative Niagara photo i've seen in my life. It is also one of the best photos i've lately seen in TE. By all means, it is great. Here, the result is so original that i haven't even thought of the scaling issue. Congrats!
