The Seminole Tribe of Florida and the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida entered into agreements with the US government in 1957 and 1962, respectively, confirming their sovereignty over tribal lands and agreeing to compensation for seized territory. Since then, the tribes have developed economies based chiefly on sales of duty-free tobacco, heritage and resort tourism, and gambling. On December 7, 2006, they purchased the Hard Rock Cafe chain of restaurants.

Rank sold the Hard Rock business to the Seminole Tribe of Florida for US$965 million. Included in the deal are 124 Hard Rock Cafes, four Hard Rock Hotels, two Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hotels, two Hard Rock Live! concert venues, and stakes in three unbranded hotels. Rank is keeping the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in London, but has changed its name to G Casino Piccadilly. The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is also not part of the deal, as it was sold by Peter Morton to Morgans Hotel Group in May 2006.The final takeover was mired in controversy, as another of the chain's suitors, Power Plant Entertainment, charged that Merrill Lynch sabotaged its acquisition efforts. On January 8, 2007, Rank Group shareholders approved the Seminoles' US$965 million offer. The Tribe expects to have finalized the deal by March 5, 2007. The Hollywood Casino/Hotel location gained some notoriety on February 8, 2007 when Anna Nicole Smith died there.

On June 22, 2008 the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida began "Vegas-style" table gambling instead of using just type-II slots. The tribe payed the state of Florida US$100 million for the 25-year pact

Hola querida Maryori , especialista en fotos nocturnas .Esta imagen tiene una definicion genial , los reflejos te has salido estupendos y la luz esta muy bien equilibrada.Es una de mis asignaturas pendientes , gracias por compartirla .

My dear Marge,
Black absolute... a tasteful photo... awesome reflections and clarity. Great definition too. SeaN

Hola amiguita:

Felicidades!

Un fuerte abrazo,
Hercules

This is one of these rare occasions where I value note much higher than a photo...

The note...

Can't help it but to comment: Those poor aboriginals of North America...
Look what the white man did to them...???

(Big smile on my ugly face)

................
The photo..?
Definitevely lacks a lot in technical aspects of it...
Not sharp enough, extremely standardish approach ...
Millions of the same fotkas - everywhere...
(Some of them opulently awarded with the green monkies from the experts on TE)

But the note... THE NOTE !!!

Stay cool, sister Maryori
................

Miami is not neglected... Not at all...
I woudn't allow it to happened :-))
And that includes the Hollywood as well...

This is just like a postcard. So perfect calm reflection that it looks like a mirror!

Very well captured 2s night view to show the lighted buildings so nicely. Good colors of red, green, blue and purple. I like the spectacular fountain!

tfs, bill

p/s Your 2009 travel plan - not include Malaysia?

Hi Colombiana,
you are very gifted nighttime photographer and this picture is yet another proof for this. Very good composition, with many different colours visible. The fountain looks splendid.

Once again great image!
