Photographer's Note

Appomattox is where General Robert E. Lee surrendered to General (and future U.S. President) Ulysses S. Grant, signaling the end of the Civil War, on April 9, 1865. Today the area is preserved as a national historical site featuring several houses, barn buildings and the house in which Lee officially surrendered to Grant.

This photo was taken in a building which once served as a general store. Despite the strong backlight there was very little available light for the front of the composition. Because it would be a photo of objects typical of the 1860's I figured ISO 3200 would add an older look to the photo.....and it did. However, I still reduced the noise a bit in Photoshop.
