Photographer's Note

In 1906 then President Teddy Roosevelt declared the Sinagua Indian tribe ruins a National Park. It is estimated that the tribe left the area around year 1400. They thought to be descendants of the modern day Hopi tribe of Northern Arizona. There are many Cliff Dwellings in North America. This one here called Montezuma's Castle near Camp Verde, Arizona. This structure has about 45 to 50 rooms depending on the expert you talk to. Not as large as some in nearby Colorado. Still the purpose is the same. Protection, sturdy living structures, and accomplishment. This park is located just off of interstate 17 on the way up to the Grand Canyon out of Phoenix.
