Photographer’s Note
This is a saguaro cactus which is common throughout the American south west. In the background is the Spanish styled San Xavier Mission, built in the 18th century, (1783-1797) when this area of Arizona was still part of Mexico.

"The saguaro, pronounced /səˈwɑroʊ/, (Carnegiea gigantea) is a large, tree-sized cactus species in the monotypic genus Carnegiea. It is native to the Sonoran Desert in Arizona, the Mexican state of Sonora, and an extremely small area of California. The saguaro blossom is the state flower of Arizona.
The common name saguaro came into the English language through the Spanish language and ultimately from the language of the Tohono O'odham native American nation."

Very Remarkable composition, Chris, with all that blue.
The red of the fence is also a fine element.

Chris,
Great shot of this towering cactus. The placement of the cactus works well allowing us to see the church and landscape on the opposite side. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has excellent sharpness.

Hi Chris,
The saguaro cactus leads our eyes toward the mission which is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the cactus. The good luminosity has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Chris,
The brilliant light of the South West has helped to illuminate this scene, and give you such sharp detail. I've always been impressed by your scanned images. What kind of a scanner do you use?
Warm regards,

Hi Chris,
A picture with two monumental objects. The remarkable church with the two different towers on the background and the huge cactus in front. Both like fingers pointing to heaven.

Sabaidee Chris,
This it a very good perspective and view. The large cactus give the essence of the Southwest Desert landscape. The mission is well in good clarity even in the distance. Kind of odd to see one of the tower without the top. Good shot with good depth. Thanks.

Namaste Chris
I have seen the San xavier Mission's closeup shot from Tan's picture earlier. You have balanced the picture well with the saguaro cactus. the long shadows also add to this picture. Well done!
