Photographer’s Note
"The wind whips through the canyons of the American Southwest, and there is no one to hear it but us - a reminder of the 40,000 generations of thinking men and women who preceded us, about whom we know almost nothing, upon whom our civilization is based."
--- DR. CARL SAGAN
The American West has more 'Slot Canyons' than anywhere else. This image is of probably the most photographed one, Antelope Canyon near Page, Arizona.
The canyon was formed by the erosion of Navajo Sandstone, caused by flash flooding and rain moving rock particles to carve out the unique shapes and forms.

Hi Ray
it's funny to see that you took this pic in 08/2008...when I too was there! Seems like we are chasing each other :-) nice pic anyway, I like the landscape framing, not so usual for this subject.
Have a nice day,
Rikk

Interesting horizontal variation on this ubiquitous subject matter. I like the sun peeking in, declaring it's contribution to the wonderful light and color presented here. Lovely. Congratulations. Judy

Hello Ray
Well taken photograph. Its always difficult to master bright light, mixed with very dark light. Turned out very well.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Ray,

I really like your composition, the place is really amazing.
You have so many layers here -it does not even look real,

Hi Ray
Well I was just there myself and I have a few posts of this slot canyon to post as well. Is this upper or lower Antelope? I spent time in Upper Antelope as well as Rattlesnake Canyon. The patterns are wonderful and the way you gave captured it it looks like there is light falling like a waterfall on the lefthand side. Well done indeed.

Hi Ray,
this place is so awesome! I've never been there, but the photos tell a thousand tales. I like your shot - quite artistic in nature and a unique perspective. Difficult light, but the over exposure on the bottom doesn't bother me. Well done.
Take good care,
Linda

Hi Ray,
Vos photos sont vraiment très belles.
J'ai une préférence pour celle-ci qui est vraiment étonnante. On dirait un drapé, un tissu de soir. Les couleurs sont irréelles ! J'aimerai un jour voir canyon !
