Photographer’s Note
Day 1, we arrived at Grand Canyon just before sunset, when I stood along the rim, looking down each successive layers of plateaus before me, never have a felt so insignificant and small, yet I felt so excited and alive. This is not the first time I saw Grand Canyon, yet it still made me feel like I was seeing it for the very first time. I stood still and speechless, mesmerized by its vastness and beauty and the sunset light reflecting of the cliff where I was standing into the foreground cliff, and its glow enhanced it beauty further more.
It is hard to believe that some people I know in California have never been here and yet they have all been to Las Vegas?
We couldn’t spend too much time here. We had to get our tent set up and rest early for the next day hike down to the Colorado River.

hi Way,
this is the feeling I experienced when I travelled across the south western National Parks. everything was "oversize"...and I felt so small....
moreover...the light you captured is pretty warm and pleasant...

Hi way, Wonderful view of the grand Canyon. Indeed, one feels there small and insignificant. Beautiful evening light. So you were on the camping site there? So you follow the steps of our friend fulvio. Nice view of the people giving the idea of the scale. It amazes me how the flat the ground is outside. hahaha, so all your friends were in Las Vegas? It I had to choose, i would prefer Grand Canyon, it is clear. Luckily I had enough time for both.
Regards
Maggie.

Nicely composed shot of this majestic place. The people on the canyon rim really add a sense of scale for this shot. The lighting and colors are great as is the photo's sharpness.

Hi, Way. A well chosen point of view including people to show us how large and deep the canyon is. It is also interesting to see the different rock layers in the foreground. Nice soft light and good contrast between the rocks and the tree in the foreground.
Have a nice day,

Hi Way,
Very impressive view ! The sharpness on the cliffs in the foreground contrasts with the lightly blured mountains in the background, it gives a good depth to the picture. Nice to include the people top of the cliffs, it lets us imagine how huge the place is !

Is that a sight of the Colorado River on the right? If I remember correctly there is only one viewpoint where you can actully see the river. It's very difficult to capture something different here and the sunset light was half the battle to make an excellent image. I love how it highlights the foreground 'cliff' and selected other rocks. The real bonus is the people standing there like little ants in this huge landscape. Excellent shot.

Hello Way -
Your image is just beautiful! You have captured the magic of the GC. Sunset and Sunrise are about the only time to capture the canyon and the majority of the people who visit never see it this way. I love the different colors and hues embedded in the rocks and highlighted by the golden light of days end. Just wonderful!
Thank you for sharing.

Hello Way,
Although it is almost impossible to capture the grandeur of this site, your photo provides a wonderful view, with delicate collour shades and the rock with the people in the foreground proivdes depth and scale to this awesome landscape.

Hi, Way,
This photo shows that you are at the top of your skills and those are very good indeed.
There are several wonderful features of this photograph. And nothing (I can find) to criticize.
The great parts:
(1) The sunlit patches sprinkled throughout the frame.
(2) The light management so that the hues are rich and yet the sunlit parts and the shade are all nicely defined.
(3) The exquisitely detailed and interesting (almost) foreground with the insignificantly sized (but still clearly resolved) people and the nice splash of green vegetation.
All wonderful.
I'm looking forward to seeing more from you on this theme!

Hi Way
Gorgeous! The view is impressive of course, but the warm hues on the rocks are also part of the magic. I like very much your composition. It's one of the rare times I appreciate the silhouettes: it gives a good scale of the canyon's size. And with the multitude of the clothes colors; it suggests the idea, that, wherever we comes from, whatever are our differences of race, nationality, religion, or anything else, we are all the same vulnerable and really, really small in front of the nature! Excellent work, Way!

Hello Way,
Looking to your photo I can guess it is a fabulous place. One day I would have to go there to enjoy the scenery at sunset.
The background a bit in the haze put a good deepness effect and the heigh is shared by the people at the panoramic point.

I like this way of presenting us the Grand Canyon, in sharpness and in poetry, with colors so sweet. I like discovering these small spots of lights as small winks which the sun sends you to greet you.

Happy to see you again on TE !
What a wonderful shot you propose for your come-back! Very impressive ! My pupils dilate by looking at your photo. Very well done (great composition, colors, sharpness, light). I like much the humans presence which give us an idea on the hills scale. I'm under the feeling it's necessary not to have the giddiness...
I love photos like this, it's really a call to dream.
Congratulations Way.
Good frame also, simple and elegant.

Hello Way! Day 1 with a shot like this one, wow! Normally I am really bad with day ones, tired from the car ride or flight, not able to bring something decent home, but day 2 is normally better. Grand Canyon ALWAYS knocks you out, when you see it for the first time, you cannot believe your eyes, so much beauty. Love it, the light is wonderful. I like the inclusion of the tourists, this common gathering is sometimes the thing we want, not always, but here it works very well. What a spectacle ... some hours left and I am off to Italy ... YES!!! More later, some time next week. Barbara.

Hi Way,
Don't worry too much about feeling insignificant and small; that's exactly what the centipede said to itself when it saw you arriving... :-P)
Since the sun was almost gone, still splashing only a few of the rock surfaces, I think you did the right thing by using the forefront cliff to bring luminosity and details.
This is also where the depth and dimension in your image mostly come from, as the rest of the valley is in shadow at this hour. Therefore, the foreground is really detaching itself from the rest of the image, thanks to the warm glow and clear cut edges.
You are right Way, I would visit the Grand Canyon and the surrounding 20 times before putting my feet in Las Vegas... :-P)
Cheers!

Hi Way,
Fantastic landscape you are showing here with very nice colors. Compo I like with tree and rock with people on in lower left corner. Creates depth also.
Sunlight has already faded in the canyon though, otherwise it would have been even better.

Sabaidie Way
Quite different from the other Grand Canyon shots I’ve seen, more so because of the sunset light, which hits some parts of the outcrops in patches as if God just took his solar brush and splattered the paint of the golden copper colours. Fine sunset colours in the sky and the tiny people up there gives an idea of the magnificence of the scale. Fine work as always!
