Building railway stations like the Oculus in New York or the railway station Liège-Guillemins take several years until they are finishes.
This picture is an impression of the project for the Central Sunway in San Francisco. The work started in 2012. The picture is taken July 2014. The subway will be opened in 2018.
The POV is in the Market street looking into the Stockton Street. It is a pity you can’t hear the noise of all the machines.
The Central Subway is an extension of the Muni Metro light rail system under construction in San Francisco, California, from the Caltrain commuter rail depot at 4th and King streets to Chinatown, with stops in South of Market (SoMa) and Union Square.
The subway is the second phase of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency's Third Street Light Rail Project. The first phase opened to the public as the T Third Line in 2007. The Central Subway is expected to open to the public in 2018. With the addition of the Central Subway, the T Third Line is projected to become the most heavily ridden line in the Muni Metro system by 2030.
Ground was broken for the Central Subway on February 9, 2010. As of February 2014, both tunnel boring machines (TBMs) had passed under Market Street and were tunnelling under Stockton Street toward Chinatown.

Hello Rob,
He seems to be having a well earned rest at this point in time:-) I like the strong graphical lines supplied by the construction equipment. The man adds a human element and provides scale. Very good management of the strong light. Interesting and well realised daily life composition.

Dear Rob,
I like that everything related to the construction is vivid yellow, including the man, who looks very 'metal' with that mustache. :)
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Dag Rob,
Uw foto is technisch heel goed gemaakt.
Goed van kleur en mooie presentatie. Bedankt
Groeten,
John

Hello Rob,
An interesting and informative note and a very fine photograph showing what looks like total confusion amidst tall cranes, railings, machines and building materials - it is quite remarkable how, in two years' time, this will become a spanking new and smart Central Subway.
Perhaps this worker isn't actually toiling very hard - probably just relaxing and keeping an eye on the curious photographer - but he's well placed in the frame amidst all the colourful and detailed confusion and you have captured the scene perfectly.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Bonjour Rob,
Amicalement

Bonjour, cher ami Rob,

Hello Rob,
Being retired I am very fond of looking at people at work. That is one reason to like this photo. Another good reason is that TE doesn't allow sound files, so I am glad I can't actually hear the noise from this place. It's more chaotic than your usual stylishly composed photo, but that means you captured the local atmosphere perfectly.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Rob,
Excellent work related shot. All the normally open street space is now covered with construction equipment giving good idea how these project create temporary, but sometimes rather long time obstacles. All those high price brand names in the background add contrast.

Hi Rob,
You have captured well the wondering expression of the worker why you are taking is picture. The length of the street is giving depth and perpesctive to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the machinery and of the buildings. Have a nice day.

Ciao Rob

Vele groeten, Paul

Dag Rob

Hi Rob.
A large composition, to show these gigantic works, gives the impression that everything on the street is under construction, machinery, cranes etc ..... man puts the human touch, as if waiting for something.
Brightness, sharpness, colors and POV chosen are excellent.
Very good work. I like it.
You have a good day.
Best regards.
Luis.

hello Rob, Even such big machines and cranes can be shown in an interesting way, although for most photographers it is rather the nuisance. The yellow colour of the elements is eye catching. As for me, I do not regret that I do not hear the noise of it. Big constructions are always time consuming and difficult to bear for the inhabitants. we had the short metro line built in Warsaw and it was awful time, but now it works.

Hello, Rob,
Your photo proves that not only the result of construction should be a subject of capturing, but a constructional process itself may be interesting and attractive. You have caught a right moment and chosen a very good composition for taking the picture. The light, colors, details and photographic qualities are excellent here. Great job!
Best regards,
Sergiy

I have a theme withn this title, Rob, so added this one to the series.
Yellow machines in fine shining contrast to the surrounding, and the man presence gave life to those machines.
Fine taken moment.
Have a nice new day,
Ike
