Photographer's Note

The Karl Kundert Medical Building, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, was completed in 1956. Extensive flow chart studies of Dr. Kundert's patients were taken for 4 years prior to plans for the building being drawn up. In the center of the building is a central island where the receptionist acts similarly to a control tower at an airport, directing traffic. The building was originally going to be made out of Usonium Block (inexpensive three-inch-thick modular concrete blocks that could be assembled in a variety of ways and secured with steel rods and grout), but the local building codes would not allow it. Composed of red brick with cut-out design in the windows, the Kundert building is offset from the lot. Wright utilized nature by seemingly bringing the trees and background into the building.

Technical: Cropped and contrast applied. The sign was desaturated. The entire photo was sharpened.
