Continuing my Maui/Hawaii album

A luau is a Hawaiian feast. It features food, such as poi, kalua pig, poke, lomi salmon, opihi, haupia, and beer; and blended with Hawaiian and Polynesian hulas and music.
the history:
Before contact with the western world, Hawaiians called their important feasts an 'aha 'aina. These feasts marked special occasions such as reaching a significant life milestone, the launching of a new canoe or a great endeavor.
Historically, the food and practices observed at an 'aha 'aina were rich with symbolism and the entire event was designed to unite the participants, similar to the way the old Hawaiians braided strands of coconut husk fiber, or sennit, into thicker 'aha cords and rope.
Starting about 150 years ago the term luau gradually replaced 'aha 'aina. Luau, in Hawaiian and other Polynesian languages, is actually the name of the taro leaf, which when young and small is cooked like spinach and is often mixed with other foods served.

Hi Christian,

Very good note on Hawaiian and Polynesian culture.. Great photograph ,, though not as sharp as was expected but the mood capture is great..

cheers

Hi Christian!
Well i hesitated a lot... i decided however to give you 2 points (it doesn't really matter either) it was about differentiating between my other critiques.

I decided that it was the camera that betrayed you... if shutter aperture could have been wider, the shutter speed would have been bigger and your pisture sharp!

At first sight, it seems that they are on a boat with a sail.. but in fact no ;-)

Cheers
-Pascal-

What i liked, the framing (on moving targets) and the face expressions of both characters.

Hi Christian,
I like the color and graphism in this superb dual portrait. Good sharpness and contrast.
Georg

Hey Christian,
A very nice shot offering us a glimpse into Hawaiian culture. The fact that the shot is not 100% sharp actually adds a sense of motion and flow to the composition and I think that's what dances are basically all about. Well done!!! TFS
Greetings,
Natasha

Ciao Crhistian,
grande scatto delle bellezze Hawaiane e polinesiane , foto molto ben composta e gra senso di movimento.

The slighty long exposure effect add the dance feeling to the image, colors are also very nice, compliments Christian!!!

have a nice week,
Fabio.

Hello Christian,

very interesting and original shot.Good colors and much atmosphere.I think only the sharpness is not perfect for this shot.

With regards from Luxembourg

Jean-Claude

Beautiful colors and "subjects" for this image, but the lack of sharp of the man is intriguing, attention is all for the girl, compliments Christian.
Ciao
Vinicio

Hello Cowboy,
Une belle ambiance de ce couple avec leurs tenues de fêtes, en plus tu a eu droit au joli sourire et un signe de la main de la jolie fille :-)
Belle soirée a toi
cricri

Hi Chris,

nice scene, colorful and with a good mood. I'm only not so convincted about the blurry man.

Hola Christian,

Roberto

Christian,
the atmosphere is a wonderful, but the low shutter did inflict some blur due to movement of the dancers and that is a real pity. I would love to see this here crystal clear sharp! Another detail is the WB. It seems to me that you got this shot in a show with light bulb ilummination, right? The shot has a slight yellow hue and that is a sign of inbalanced WB.
Peter

Nice portrait here.. I love the colors as well! Regards, Doug
