Photographer’s Note
Well you can't go to Yellowstone National Park without a visit or two to Old Faithful. The light was just about gone so you may find some noise as I had to do quite a bit of PP to pull this one out. I also pushed the saturation and adjusted the temperature in RAW. Old Faithful is starting to slow according to the authorities and if I remember correctly when I was a kid it went off every 60 minutes but now it is every 90 minutes. It is still pretty spectacular.

Hi Phil
The amount of noise is minimal, and yes the photo is dark, but if you brightened it up any more, you may loose in other areas.
Its great that you were able to capture the sun behind the Old Faithful as it provides a nice contrast.
having to use such a fast shutter, it was going to prove difficut to capture enough light...all in all you've managed very well
Until next time
have a happy wet Sunday

Hi Phil,
Darn near your bedtime when you got this wonderful verticale shot.
Love the muted tones of the gyeser explosion.

Hi Phil
Congrats on your visceral shot. I wonder how height the spray reaches and the sound it makes. These are the questions this photo evokes for me. Good post photo processing and informative write up.

Hi Phil,
This is really nice with the geyser set against the golden rays of sunset. Well managed composition - a classic, but the light and colors makes this one a winner. TFS. Gerald

Hi Phil,
amazing light.
Unfortunately I have never been to Yellowstone. It is always a bit too far from my route.
Your sky is fantastic with extraordinary colors.
Excellent work,
M
