Nevada Desert Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is a scan from an old Ekthachrome 100 color slide (I know quality is not perfect), taken in the Nevada desert, with a cloudy sky and sunlight filtering throught it.
When I was there I was captured by the fact that not far from there, about 50 years ago, that area was used to test nuclear bombs.

Don't worry about qualitiy! The shown is so impressive and beautiful that this photo truly is worth to be shown here. I like especially this contrast between the sunlit rocks and this nearly threatening sky. A wonderful sight!

The light is splendid while fantastic yellow tones of ridges are shining under powerful sun and creating contrast with dark sky. I like the natural grains and shadows too. Benissimo, amazing work. Congratulations.

hello Stefano,
yes, I can see grain in the sky, but I don't mind it, I actually think it adds to the photo, especially considering your note about nuclear tests, now the sky looks as if it still has not healed from that.
the light is great, I think I would add "decisive moment" as a category, light like this lasts only few moments. it really brings out the textures of the mountains, I like the photo a lot.
