Photographer’s Note

Armondo's Pizza has been a local favorite in the Brooklyn neighborhood called Canarsie since 1960. They are just as well-known for their impressive wall of historic photos as they are for their pizza. You can take a trip down memory lane while enjoying your slice.

Canarsie is located in the southeastern part of Brooklyn, and it was originally inhabited by a tribe of Lenape Indians called the Canarsee. It was a fishing village through the 1800's, and from the early 1900's until the 1990's it was populated mostly by Italian and Jewish families.

Nowadays Canarsie is home to mostly families of West Indian descent. Most of the pizzerias have been replaced by shops selling jerk chicken and roti, but Armondo's and its wall are still there to enjoy.
