Photographer's Note

Memorial Day in the US is about honoring those that have served in the armed forces, some that have paid the ultimate price, others that served as honorably but were not called upon to give their lives. The day is about an idea, that these deeds are honorable and right and needed in the name of freedom. I happen to agree, though agreeing with me is not important or the point of this photo. This young brother and sister were completely taken by the parade here in Small Town USA where those in the parade numbered nearly as many as those watching. In many ways this is America at it's best, or maybe my wishful thinking of the America of my youth.
