Photographer's Note

Another in my ongoing project to visit and photograph all 50 US state capitol buildings. This series is from Little Rock, the capital city of Arkansas.

As some here have noticed already, most US State Capitols are quite similar in appearance; a neo-classical style, usually with large columns, two wings and an impressive dome. Arkansas' capitol building is no different, and the exterior, while perfectly nice, is not particularly original or outstanding. The interior is somewhat nicer, though a far cry from the most beautiful I've seen (that title goes to Pennsylvania, with New York a close second - I haven't posted shots from either yet, but they're coming!). Still, there are some lovely details in Arkansas' capitol, and the chandelier hanging from the rotunda is one of them, with its beautiful pearl-like fixtures. Here in the late afternoon sun, the reflections light it up nicely and you get a good sense of the detail of the rotunda and its windows.
