We have not had a good snow all winter long. In fact, the temperatures went up to 76° F (= 24° C) in February. So imagine our surprise when it decided to snow last week while I was on Spring Break. I decided I would take advantage of this spectacle and took my cameras along when I gave my wife a ride to work (she was not allowed to drive due to her shoulder injury). The temperatures were hovering around freezing and because it had been warm the day before, the snow did not accumulate on bare ground or on road surfaces, only on trees and grass. For the first time in years, our trees turned white the way I see trees turn white in photos that John Maenhout (jhm) and Nicolas Abdoul Amherd (Nicou) post from Belgium and Switzerland.
This was taken from behind the wheel when I was stopped at a stop sign on Garfield Avenue near the hospital where I had dropped off my wife. Since it was taken behind the windshield, the colors did not come out quite right, so I converted it to B&W. I would normally clone out the overhead wire, but since this was covered in snow, I decided to leave it. The workshop has a photo from half a block down the road with lots of overhead wires covered in snow.
PS. I added another workshop photo to respond to Chris Jules' (ChrisJ) critique.

Just like here, we're having hot weather when we're about to be entering autumn! That's (crazy) nature!
Very interesting and attractive picture, with special regards to the exposure, horizontal format, chosen pov and composition!
TFS - congrats,

Snowstorm hit the east-coast last week, so we saw on the TV, Murat.
Spring is just around the corner, but winter still send its last blows.
Good choice of B&W, perspective and fine view of the branches with frost grow on...
Have a nice Friday,

Comparing this to the WS I can say that you didn't lose much from making it in B&W. In fact the contrasts of dark streets and white lawns, dark trunks of trees and white branches made this ideal for a monochrome version. In the cities snow is usually just a nuisance to everyone but the kids, but watching it could be nice. But I'm amazed at the number of wires. Where I live most of them would be buried in the ground.

The image works really well in black and white. I like the long perspective along the roadway, which benefits from the repeating telephone poles. Also, the intricate patterns formed by the snow covered branches.

I saw the recent snow in America on the news here. You'd hope spring would be slowly starting by now. But the snow covers the trees in a beautiful way here and the B&W works well.

Un hiver tardif chez vous,et c'est toujours un grand moment de prendre des photos de neige, bon choix du N/B, le contraste, POV

Good sharpness. I might have cropped this one just below the power-line at top left, to remove the bright highlight at the top and shift the viewer's focus back to the snow-clad tree and avenue. The street adds good lead in lines. I like the tonal range in the b&w shot too. Tfs!

beautiful perspective of the street and the tree in foreground, so beautiful, covered with snow. I knew about this event in the news.
here we faced lower temperatures at the end of summer after a terrible hot season that begun surprisingly cold. crazy weather.
