Photographer’s Note

Here is a picture of probably the most famous staue in the World, Statue of Liberty.
Located on Liberty Island, in Hudson River mouth, it alone is 46 meters high, and 93 meters including the huge base which supports it.
On this base is bronze a plate on which figures this Emma Lazarus poem :
Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost, to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door !
This photograph is a crop, which I think add to the statue expression, original compo is in WS.

Bonjour JB

JB your picture looks nicer than the original. I like the black and white rendering of the image and the emphasis on the upper body and torch of the statue. Well composed and managed picture. Thanks JB.

Tres belle photo...

I'm very impressed by the close view of the statue. The light was good and your light sepia toned B&W works well.

JB,
You have a certain pp style which i very much like. It reminds me always on a lot of pp projects i did a very long time ago.
Your picture is from an object we all know, so who is going to make something new? When i saw the thumbnail i was already curious and seeing the large version i was really surprised by the crop, the framing and the pp work. You could have choosen for a much more darker image full of drama, but seeing this i think it was a wise decision to present it like this.
A great photo and even better framed and the use of colour tone...perfect..!!!
Regards, Henk

Hi JB,
The Statue of Liberty is oft pictured but I like this close cropped version with the statue against the rather dull sky.

Hi JB,
A very nice photo of the Statue of Liberty. The crop you choose does add to the statue indeed, it makes it stronger in my opinion. In this version the more interesting and important parts of the statue get the attention.
The choice to go with B&W also adds to the photo as there are no distracting colors from the sky or elsewhere.
Very well done!

Bonsoir JB,
Bon dimanche,
Angel.

Salut JB, your capture of this famous statue has an impressive quality and in a marvellous B&W. Excellent lighting and contrasts and beautiful grey tones on the sky. Yes, I completely agree with this crop and closer approach as a result. Very good work.

Hello JB,
A very good job of taking one of the most photographed objects in the world in a unique way. Your photo is very striking with great sharpness and composition. B&W worked the best for this perspective. I like this image the more that I view it. Wonderful photograph!

JB, not only the crop with the almost cubic framing but also the B&W treatment made it a better shot than the original. The contrast in the B&W are right on spot.

Bonjour JB -
I took a look at the WS and this is the more powerful image while the WS is more of the tourist image. Sometimes I think that less is more and this is one of those instances. The composition is balanced with Lady Liberty off center to the right, there is some detail in the tablet, and the play of light vs shadows enhances the depth of the statue. The B&W conversion and toning has worked very well in this instance. Bravo, well done!
Thank you for sharing.

Amicalement,
Josep

Hello JB,
I have to say that both the version of this pic are just amazing. It's probably one of the most classic shot but I think there is something special in what you've done..I mean, Lady Liberty..she's gorgeous..but the way you took this pic and the treatment in the pp..well she looks beautiful then ever...
Congratulations for this shot and for your wonderful gallery.
regards
Igor
