[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
The first rays of sun strike the lakebed floor at the Racetrack, home of mysterious moving rocks (see the Note at my earlier post.) The rock appears at rest. Did it waken at night and move, when no one was looking, returning to sleep with the first hint of dawn? Or does it wait patiently for the rains to slicken the lakebed, so it can move about almost effortlessly?

The rock would not tell me its secrets--it simply lay there stone-faced.

Hi Ken, what a nice shot and good use of wide angle lens in a mysterious place. very well done.

Sam.

I dont know a word about the moving rocks, but what a mood the one of this picture. I have been myself in another desert last week and I know about the photographic potential of scenes like this one. The light is so good to click around with the camera, powerful image with lot of potencia.
Take care
Miguel

Hello Ken,

How big are the rocks in this place? The landscape is more similar to the ones I see in Sci-Fi movies. Very nice and sharp image with excellent contrast of light and shadows. Nice place and well composed image. Thanks Ken.

Roberto

Hi Ken,

We're back at the moving rocks, still struggling with the mistery that Peter was struggling with as well in his photographs ;-).
Very nice light, especially nice how you captured the darker parts further away. Nice!

Greetings, Dennis

WOW!!! This is the first "WOW" for me today and I think this one is certainly the best post for me so far. Simply put "LOVELY" Thanks for sharing Ken.

Hi Ken,
From the other side, and this brings a lot of depth in it and it also shows more movement although we both know that it's hardly moving at all ;-)
Like your composition and shadows of the track, very nice.
Have a nice weekend, Henk

This place reminds me of the salt flats we have here in Utah, expect we don't have mystery stones. Clever note by the way. I laughed at the last line. I really like the compo of this one. The mountains in the background are cool, and I like the shadow on the valley. I bet some old guy is having a good laugh at everyone trying to figure out how these rocks moved when actually he just pushed them around when he was a kid.

D'étranges et esthétiques formations dignes d'une autre planète mais n'est-ce pas la définition même de la Vallée de la Mort? En tout cas, le cadrage est excellent comme le rendu

Hi Ken,
Great depth with thgis frame, impressive result. A so so strange wilderness landscape, great realisation, bravo !

Hi Ken,

Very intriging picture. Excellent framing using the track to lead the eyes to the rock and the mountains on the bg. The texture on the foreground is perfect.

Regards,

Flavia

Bonjour Ken
j'aime beaucoup la perspective dans cette photo. La lumière et superbe et donne une belle et étrange ambiance. Joli graphisme. Bravo.

I enjoyed tour in your gallery. I have chosen this one both because I love Death Valley, I think it is a fantastic place, and also because I have seen these moving stones only on National Geographic photos.
I thought it was a very rare thing to see. Very interesting.
Then the stone path going towards the darker area of the picture is amazing
Regards Stefano
