[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Posted on the road - we are in the Olympic Peninsula, northwest Washington state, and ever since we left California it has been overcast and often raining. Nonetheless I've been getting some decent pictures; however, because we're traveling with an old laptop with not much power, I don't have Photoshop, only Picture Project - which doesn't even show the images decently.

But I did take this picture of Cascade Falls today which looks OK to share. The falls is in the Olympic National Forest, just south of Lake Quinault, on a short trail from the forest service visitors' center. You can't take the shortest trail, though, because they had a bad winter season, knocking down a lot of trees, and many trails are still blocked.

I did not have my tripod with me on the trail (never fear, I did bring along in the car), so I used a nearby post; I wanted to slow the shutter down enough to get a water flow. I have some slower shots, but I'll have to wait until I get home and can look at them with a decent monitor to know if they worked or not. < sigh >

Technical: Picture Project (yecch): Raise brightness, and middle-level sharpening.

Hello Daniel,

This seem like a refreshing place to stop. excellent composition with good colour saturation and sharpness. The cascade seem very interesting and pretty though small. Nice cropping and light. Thanks dan.

Roberto

I have stopped here many times, never had the chance to photograph it. Thanks for posting. Since I now live in Beijing, China ... places like this are simply not here. Other interesting things are ... but natural beauty such as those from my home in Oregon and Washington are rare. Thanks for posting this. Very Nice!

This is just gorgeous! I love all the green! I can spend hours on end at a spot like this just taking in all the nature around. A beautiful mood to this image. TFS and have a great day!

Looks very immaculate and peaceful.
Just natural colours. The rhythm of stream and little bushes are nice. Nice photo.
Peter.

Wow, Dan, beautiful shot.
lovely color and contrast, great light and I love the different scenes of where the water finds its way down. That IS a wonderful looking spot, for sure. Many thanks and kindest wishes,
Shelly

Dan,
that is the God's wrath! Who told you to leave California to go to Oregon and Washington instead of staying in sunny California and attending the TE meeting at Point Reyes. i hope the Photography Gods will give you even more fog and rain!!! ;-)
Very nice detailed image with a tight crop just focusing on the interaction of the flowing water and the green almost covering the whole slope.
Peter

Hi Dan,
a great display of lush greens, finely framed and featuring outstanding slow shutter action.
Not too much, not too little, just perfect. Therefore the water retains all its natural dynamics without turning milky. Which I appreciate.
GOOD JOB!
Have a nice day, buddy.
See ya soon,
Fulvio.
