[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Although I love this photo i had trouble deciding on an appropriate crop, I wanted to isolate the bride from the busy background, to do so I cropped more than I wanted which degraded the quality.Resizing it also offered some challenges.
The , San Francisco Pride Parade is a world renowned event that attracts people from everywhere either as participants or as spectators. This year its theme was "United by Pride, Bound for Equality.” Given the fact that California has legalized same sex marriage, this year’s pride parade was huge. I had never been to the pride parade, I’m not found of parade watching, but I’ve been asked by , Cheer SF to photograph some of their parade performances, and agreed to walk the parade route with them, and it was great fun. This bride was walking along , Market Street
with his partner and they were silly and it seems that everywhere I went they were there, I loved his smile he seemed so happy, although I’m not certain if it was due to the celebrations taking place or due to the herbal components that he was partaking.
There were definitely unusual participants and very unusual spectators. The fun atmosphere was contagious, and the over all feeling was good family fun with a crazy San Francisco twist. Although I live literally 6 minutes from San Francisco and work in The City, I was astonished at the transformation that took place on , Market Street . One thing is exceedingly clear, despite the troubles of a large city, and the variety of opinions, tolerance and acceptance is a way of life in San Francisco. As a European immigrant that moved to the San Francisco Bay Area as a teenager in the 1980’s , this parade brought back my imaginings of what San Francisco was about, imaginings deeply rooted in the Scott McKenzie Lyrics
, If you're going to San Francisco
If you're going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you're going to San Francisco
You're gonna meet some gentle people there

For those who come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
In the streets of San Francisco
Gentle people with flowers in their hair

All across the nation such a strange vibration
People in motion
There's a whole generation with a new explanation
People in motion people in motion

For those who come to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there

If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there

Hi Cristina,

I understand your battle looking for that perfect crop. In moments like this I follow the advice imparted by a fellow photographer: If your image lacks interest, move closer.

Here you did, and it worked. The contrast of that strong face and the gown is wonderful, but it is indeed his smile that completes the shot.

Well done... and glad you enjoyed the event!

Bonita foto.

F

Hi Crsitina,

what is better for a Gay Pride Parade then a proud smile... the shot is delicious, thanks for your fine note, too.

Ola Cristina... Funny moment of the gay pride at the capital of the Gay World... I love the comic side of it, and I join the celebration of the new law allowing same sex people to get married... Thanks and please, keep posting.

Hi Christina,

I do agree with you that this sympathetic bride(groom) deserves the best possible presentation. So I did in the workshop what was forbidden for you and used some post processing the make a blurred background to imitate another DOF.
I hope you like it.
