ENGLISH: I have already posted a similar POV in landscape format. I had meant to post this photo, as I like the way the sun lit up the orange in the rocks a little more. This is Binalong Bay, home to many wondeful breakfasts, lunches, dinners and picnics during my stay in Tasmania. This part of the Bay is known as "The Gulch". My last photo was taken from the beach which is also part of Binalong Bay. The Bay's only restaurant Angasi is named after the delicious oysters which are pulled straight out of these waters.

Good afternoon to you, Lisa!
It's nice trading trips with you this way...
I like this view of Binalong Bay, too. The orange of the rocks is really nice, the dof is great again, too. The grad made the clouds look just a little threatening, adding drama to the scene, for certain. I wouldn't mind trying some of those oysters myself!
Have a great weekend!
tusharkmandal (3169) 2010-02-05 18:47
This is a really nice view. The shadows and the light are very well managed. The sunlight on the rocks and the colors on it gives a very warm effect. I also like portions of blue sky reflecting on the water.
Thanks for Sharing

Great composition and Exposure.
I like the well-exposed foreground leading to the dark clouds.
Did you use a high-end Canon for this?
macjake (48349) 2010-02-05 20:33
Funny how a photo can look like its climbing higher and higher. thats the effect i see here, so much height made my your POV. gotta love that splash of orange on the rocks too!
Have a great weekend

It's a long time since I haven't comment one of your pictures, but today, looking at your whole gallery, I am really impressed by your progress.
The quality of your photos is always perfect and even the thumbnails are really eyecatching thanks to your right framings and the attractive colours.
This one is wonderful. The vertical format is perfecly chosen to enhance the natural elements, and what can I say about the fabulous light and contrast ? Marvelous !
The blue/gray tones against the orange stones are powerful.
Compliments for your work, Lisa.

a really nice sight of Binalong Bay with the rocks to create a great depth in the scene.I like the orange light that falls on the background rocks make them colourful,as the heavy dark clouds over it.Well done.

Beautiful work, I am so jealous! Both about the Tasmania and about the excellent quality of this shot.
The light is unearthly with these dark clouds making an incredible contrast. It feels fantastic and the effect is well enhanced by the strong shadows on the rocks. Very well chosen foreground, I like the vertical frame.
ifege (9947) 2010-02-06 1:25
Another superb slow shot Lisa, and especially the orange tinge to the rocks, with plenty of drama from the dark clouds.
CLODO (27498) 2010-02-06 1:47
You catched a perfecr contrast between the orange hues of the rocks and the grey/purple clouds and their reflections. Really eye catching
Dashab (2562) 2010-02-06 1:56
Hi again, Lisa,
The beautiful warm light on the rocks seems more prominent in this one than in the landscape version, which I like, and I also like the way the rocks are organised in the fg, that "bending row" to the left of the centre. It is good that in making a few steps to the side (as compared with your previous shot), you still managed to keep a bit of a break between the two large rocks on the horizon. Closing the horizon off completely would look strange, I think. And again, as in the previus post from this place, the colours are extraordinary!
Compliments and hugs from Prague,
npecanhuk (58210) 2010-02-06 2:04
That's a very attractive photo!
The vertical format is perfect here! Pov, colors and composition are excellent! The light was very well managed all over this image, creating superb visual effects!
TFS - congratulations!

The light is just fantastic here, very nice POV and clarity. The tones are just magic.
Have a great weekend :)
snunney (75072) 2010-02-06 2:13
Very attractive these sunlit rocks with their lovely warm tones and you have captured them very well indeed. The vertical format creates a great sense of depth. The rocks in the background in particular seem to jump right out of the frame. Bon weekend!
manudautriche (4344) 2010-02-06 2:58

Hi Lisa, i love the light and the POV showing the stones leading the viewer to the two large rocks. Nice contrasting moody clouds you have there. Thanks for sharing...Alex
JT50 (1491) 2010-02-06 7:38
I like the composition. As you write,
the light play on the rocks is brilliant.
The stepping stones leads you quite a way
into the motive. Lovely shades of colours
in the FG. Very dramatic mood in the sky.
Enjoy rest of your weekend.

Buona Domenica! LUCIANO
sevy (14895) 2010-02-06 8:51
A strong landscape you caught there. Everything is there: vertical composition to provide deepness feeling, a play of colors with the orange stones and the overall blue mood, and a nice management of the contrast with a detailed foreground.

this image is really a masterpiece!
A fantastic and very well composed impression of this beautiful place. The colors are dramatic and fascinating. It is also this amazing sky that makes the image outstanding. Congratulation!

yes it's lovely Lisa,
a well taken shot here, good low pov, fine details good timing, technical very good, good balance, marvelous photo job here. have a good day.
sayeed_rahman (5987) 2010-02-07 0:10
Its more of 'Drama in Pieces' than in Orange :)
i'd say the light has been perfectly caught on the rocks, you really had to expose for the rocks..there is an even distribution of shadows which has given the softness to the frame..only an ND could have given you definition in the sky, were you using it ?
Not too many who are covering this part of australia..keep going dear
diomed (13926) 2010-02-07 4:28
Ciao cara Lisa,
Bravissima!!!
Ti auguro una buona domenica
PixelTerror (0) 2010-02-07 4:29
Lovely light indeed here, and the vertical framing combined with wide angle and succeeding rocks give this image plenty of depth
Have a nice day JY
baba_flies (8829) 2010-02-07 5:04
Hello Lisa! I was going back and forth trying to figure out if I prefer this version or the other one, but I guess I go for "drama in orange" although I mean both are breath taking. I think in this one the light is even more exciting on the rocks in the back. Just a little bit more sunlight, and bang, here we go, the drama is complete. The grey sky is amazing and helps to bring out the colors in the sunlit parts. Love your note of course ... one day you see us sitting there in this restaurant trying to eat oysters ... I have never tried them raw but overbaked with cheese (this was in France) ... this is how far I went but I loved it actually but raw ... next time. Have a good week, Barbara.
chawax (17286) 2010-02-07 5:43
This ligth is just fantastic ! The contrast with the dark sky is great. I love the low POV with the range of rocks in the water that guide us to the background.
clio (27955) 2010-02-07 5:53
batalay (33875) 2010-02-07 7:05
Hello Dear Lisa,
What a successful composition and light management. The reflections and refractions in the pool of water show perfectly, while the sky above is dramatic in its variation. Excellent shot, especially with the surreal orange in the boulders.
pajaran (44354) 2010-02-07 8:14

a good landscape deserved by a good light!
hardyuno (4650) 2010-02-07 10:40
Ciao cara Lisa,
i love such "dramatic moments", better than human tragedies (except perhaps... Shakespeares dramas)
The colours of the rocks under the dramatic sky are really fantastic. You did a fine photo work here.
Have a fine week down under and take care
Ricx (13489) 2010-02-08 0:39
Hi Lisa, I really like how you have cropped this image, with half shadow and half sunlight. I would have been tempted to crop out the areas without sunlight. ( Cropping is such personal taste) Excellent clarity and sharpness and a great title.. Hope you have a great week and look forward to following your gallery. Rich
pasternak (15165) 2010-02-08 2:24
This is really good, Lisa, the light is excellent and of course "makes" the shot, but you also have great frame division and you fill the frame nicely at all levels. Great work!
Clementi (52514) 2010-02-08 6:58
ottimo lavoro come sempre.

Have a nice day.

Bellissimo taglio verticale, ricco di tanti elementi.
Ottima luce e fantastici colori.

Gerrit (43765) 2010-02-13 0:23
Magnificent composition in very beautiful and dramatic colors and contrast.
maloutim (9619) 2010-02-19 2:01
Mia figlia andò in Tasmania e ci mostrò bellissime foto (cf rachelonthego on TE, ma inattiva ora sfortunatamente.)
Alan_Kolnik (539) 2010-02-21 4:56
Really eye-catching, and a great view into a corner of the world most of us will never see. Excellent use of the small rocks to lead the eye into the picture.
specialist (1173) 2010-02-22 14:20
genuine creativity, I guess, should be smth like this
excellent composition Lisa. the depth of the shot is
incredible; it goes as far as the eye could see, amazing
really, my compliments for seeing it,
Wahclellaspirit (3935) 2010-02-23 23:46
I did not have to go further than your last post to see that you have indeed much talent with your keen eye and for compositions. This image struck me as I first saw of course the rich orange of the rock, but the stepping stones leading one's eye into the far reaches of the image is what drew me to comment on this excellent photo. The clarity and balance of the image is beautiful, as well as the compliments of violets and oranges.
Well seen and captured...
Sergiom (48970) 2010-05-22 6:21
zequinao (52) 2010-05-27 17:44
Amazing water reflection!
Love the light on the rocks and the amazing powerful sky!
CyrilleGrillere (425) 2010-07-25 9:23
kiks (11743) 2010-08-22 8:39
Indeed dramatic with the sun shimning on the rocks creating all de oranges that contrast so well with the grey's. Did you only use the grey filter to get this colors or do you doe some changes at PP?
I love the result.
jafadabret (56497) 2010-08-27 22:55
iainsp (2626) 2010-08-29 11:28
this is a fabulous shot. The vertical format works really well and the light and colours have been superbly managed. I particularly lie the way the pictue fades in to darkness at top and bottom, with a bright band of colour in the middle.
Bournazel (6323) 2010-09-08 13:20
I'm a little bit late for this picture but it's really perfect for my collection of "unbelievable landscapes"
I put it in !!
ruisc_pt (10251) 2010-09-12 2:20
Fantastic "tell story" shot guiding our eyes trough the 3 planes.
I like the heavytones in fore and back ground contrasting with the "golden2 rocks.
kabel (1383) 2010-10-11 19:23
Hi, this is a really visually stimulating picture because of the orange colors. The temptation with landscapes is to shoot the scene with a wide angle lens and place the picture in a horizontal format. So I wonder what more was there. Great DOF by using a tripod and choosing f/11for clarity and a one second exposure.I wish I could travel to this amazing place but I will have to settle with viewing it through your photos.
Thank you for sharing,
kiasari (62) 2010-12-08 1:27
A nice shot with a good light and DOF management. Well done!
NonPhotogenic (39) 2010-12-29 15:04
thanks for welcoming me to TE. This is a beautiful shot, and the colours that from the sun on the rock give is a warm effect however when looking at the clouds it looks much more threatening. It's a great composition.
Have a great New Years Eve
brech (189) 2011-01-02 14:49
So much has already been said about this image but I love your choice of portrait view. The DOF, composition and color contrasts make for a stunning image.
Excellent! Wish I coulds award more than 2 points!

Lisa, this is a beautifil one!
Great light that enhances textures on the rocks and good composition.

I like this composition, impressive dramatic colours, fine vertical format.
Fantastic landscape. TFS!

Amazing... Without words...
ikeharel (46976) 2011-04-08 6:04
The grey filter enhanced the Drama on clouds, yet the orange tone on rocks is in good contrast.
Fine premeditated shot, superb reflection on water.
Enjoy your weekend,
lucasgalodoido (21046) 2011-04-13 15:55
really a very dramatic scene here, with this dark clouds and soft colors of sunset. I like of the water reflections too. Great job, my friend.

fabianoleite (9162) 2011-05-20 15:48
The rocks have a good colro and are well scattered all over the photo. Great sense of depth. And beautiful threatening sky. Good work, congratulations!
Robert1969 (6712) 2011-06-03 0:56
Hello Lisa, your pictures leave me open-mouthed, are the 'one more beautiful than the' other. Of course so beautiful and unusual places do not find them everywhere and you have the good fortune of being able to capture and then share them with us all.
Also looking for some defect, I would not find, therefore I can only say, thank you Lisa for your beautiful images we Gifts
korbee (6615) 2011-09-04 2:09
Amazing light Lisa, the photo is almost graphic, to make
something so special from so little needs skill and good
feeling for composition.

Wonderfull one :)
POV and colors are great, with this sky and the light on the rocks,

Very artistic, very nice colors and sharpness.
No comments at all, I just send my best regards.

Fantastic warm cold colour contrasts between the red rocks & blue grey sky & water. Good sharpness & I like the repetition of the rocks partly submerged by the tide. Tfs!

VarthDader (356) 2012-01-20 1:48
I like the difference in colours the rocks have. The ones at the bottom are small and (for want of a better word) monochrome as compared to the colourfully huge ones at the back. Quite artistic.

This is a great shot
Excellent composition and DOF

Un caro abbraccio

The view here alone is amazing, but to have captured such colors, vibrancy, clarity and the reflections makes this a very unique and enticing image. Beautifully done.
