Photographer’s Note
On the beach part I - a different look :-)
An alternative title - "Slowly sipping beer on the beach ..." :-)
Oh, the photo ...
It doesn't fit ?
Well, We often consider, that on the beach there are only suntanned people,
playing children, another lying not suntanned people, parasols, blankets, mattresses,
some sand :-) and the sea ...
Or the ocean !!!
Yes, yes, yes :-)))
But, is it all truth ?
In most cases probably YES, but Australia is different.
Why ?
Look at the photo ... :-)
...............................................................
A puzzle...
How Long Is Australia's Coastline?
The correct answer is .... it depends!
It depends on which source you read, apparently.
Source----------------------------------Length
Year Book of Australia (1978)-------36 735 km
Australian Encyclopedia-------------19 658 km
Australian Handbook-----------------19 320 km
So who is correct? The answer is: all of them!
Each source used a ruler with different sized increments on it.
If you measure the coastline with a ruler that is just 1 mm long,
you would get a length of 132 000 km!
The article is taken from The Australian Geographer,
1979 and discusses this problem in a little more detail.

Hi John,
The light hasn't been too kind to you here, the hard flat light has created too much contrast between the truck and the water behind, so too with the fishermen, dressed in dark colours they also contrast too heavily against the water.
I wish I could offer a suggestion or something more constructive on to how to avoid this but..........I've looked through your gallery and your workshop given, I'm sure you would know much better than me hot to flatten the contrast.
I like idea of the shot, the huge truck seems so out of place on the beach, and the two fishermen drinking beers looks great.
That looks like a very good place to catch "Whiting", the gutter along the beach with the sandbar further out, a perfect spot.
Regards
Peter

Hello John, I can't remember exactly where I was but the first time I was in Adelaide & I went to the beach, we could drive our cars on it & so big it was amazing. This shot of yours reminds me of that. An unusual scene you have captured, not only the big truck at the beach but also the two guys more than likely having a beer. I also came across the same conflicting details about the length of our coast line, perhaps they are using cheap tape measures ;-)))
Thank
Greetings
Santo
