Photographer’s Note
I wasn’t going to post this image, I thought I’d more than covered North Arm Cove with my last two posts.
Listening to the news today I was reminded what a violent world we live in, innocents being blown up in Pakistan, wars all over the planet, people being murdered, protests, and just now, news on the radio a sixteen year old girl was killed in a car accident, what a waste of a young life. I know this constant stress and worry affects all of us in one way or another.
I was just going through my recent shots, putting the North Arm Cove images to bed in their folder, looking at this again I was struck by how peaceful I felt when I took this shot.
At the time my wife and I were sitting on the little wharf featured in an earlier post, just us and the sounds of silence. We had a bottle of wine, a cheese plate, some crunchy bread, and this magnificent view. It was like a little slice of heaven, the sun was setting behind the hills, the water was mirror smooth and the wine was excellent. I don’t think we spoke for twenty minutes, we were happy to be here together, safe in each others company, oops, I forgot to mention the mosquito’s.
This is what I love about TE, we all get to share in each other’s little slice of heaven. Yesterday my good friend Lisa (delpeoples) posted a shot dedicated to a fellow member who was feeling a little blue, it was such a wonderful shot, peaceful yet invigorating, so many times I’ve looked at members wonderful images and felt completely energised by what is on the screen in front of me.
I hope you get the same sense of peace and tranquillity from this beautiful place as I did.

Hello Peter!
Very beautiful photograph!
Sharpness, exposure, dof, pov and colors are excellent, but the simple, effective and attractive composition is the real highlight here, because I love the way you placed the sky and the waters, with such a wonderful reflection! The boats in the bg add beauty to this pleasant image! It's peaceful, indeed!
TFS - congratulations!

Hello Peter,
Sounds just the sort of supper I like to have myself :-) And what a fantastic view to go with it, much helped by that lovely sky and the reflections in the placid waters of the bay. A peaceful and serene image with a lovely symmetry to it.

Now you're the one showing off Wallsy! Going all Jaap on me or summat? I dunno what you're doing (or drinking) but keep doing it - and teach me. It's brilliant. The entire image is luminous, excellent DOF at f/7.1 and the landscape/panoramic format is perfectly chosen. The scene is so tranquil and beautiful I won't even need a Bex, but could go some of that cheese and vino. Nice Note too :)) Lisa

Hi Peter,
I agree to you, the world around us is a mess. Therefore it is nice to emigrate from time to time if only virtually. Thanks for sharing this beautiful impression that is accompanied by a very nice note! This is a fantastic place indeed and very much to my liking with the essential boats. And I am impressed by the incredible mood you have captured here. My compliments!

Hi Peter
It is almost peaceful, the few ripples give it away though ;-). Again beautiful light and even more stunning cloud formations and colours. Im not sure if the pole offers anything to the comp, I think I would prefer to see that gorgeous reflection across the whole FG because them clouds deserve two viewings ;-). But man yep, this beats the peace out of London anyday!!!
Have a good WE.

Hello Peter,
The feathery clouds floating above the cove, and the mirror-like surface of the water complement each other. It is a serene and peaceful scene, in contrast to some of the senseless events that go on, and on. The single post sticking out of the water adds a useful symmetry breaking device.
Have a good weekend,

Hi Pete.
I feel it will not be so peaceful for the Wallabies tonight! (Good luck)
Excellent capture, the CPL has given the clouds good definition and a 3D look. Nice handling of light and colours also. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Peter.
Very pleasing reflection shot that delivers a great sense of calm. I do like the sight of quite distant yachts so becalmed in this lovely cove. The light is providing a superb luminosity. To my eye, there are just two tiny niggling points: there is the slightest of tilts, I think, to the left; and the clouds look just a tad over-sharpened. But don't let those constructive comments overshadow my admiration for this delightful nautical scene! If only all of life was like this, for all and always.

Andrew

Hi Pete,
Wonderful, wonderful presentation.
Quality note interwoven with sadness, happiness and tranqulity. Your words about the magical silence is certainly a slice of heaven - nice to share with loved ones. The sky and clouds here are heavenly. Love a lot of things about this composition - to many to write about so simply "Mint Slice - Very Nice".
Cheers,
Graham

Hi Peter,
I imagine how pleasant must be having a glass of wine and some bread and cheese enjoying this expanse of water reflecting a blue sky with picturesque clouds... It's the perfect image of peace and looking at it all the sad events you mention in the note get harder to understand. Well, in fact they can never be understood... TFS this moment of peace and beauty with all of us.

Hello Peter, I love looking at photos but I find much more pleasure in reading a note like you have just written, nice shot with the atmosphere you have described well captured, but my friend to be perfectly honest with you you could have posted anything & I would not have complained, you see I was blinded by your lovely & emotional note, not the wine you described. I think we are so lucky & occasionally we realise it. Thanks
Take care

Hello Peter,
The sea is cooperative and offers this great mirror!
The sky reflects so well and as always the reflected colours seem to be deeper that the original, possibly some kind of polarizing effect...
I guess this is spring, and you have some great summer months ahead for sailing and all kind of water activity while our outdoor life is skiing for the months to come... ha!
