Photographer's Note

This photo is the 2nd image I have posted from Nullabor Roadhouse - possibly one of the most remote locations you can drive to within Australia without leaving the bitumen road. Again you can see the iconic sign - watch out for camels, wombats and kangaroos. This one is on the western side of the roadhouse whereas my previous image is on the eastern side.

I stood in the cold dark conditions waiting for for the occasional roadtrain to pass at high speed. Firstly I had to manually focus on the sign with the aid of a torch and then experiment with different exposure times. This one was taken over 10 seconds. The head lights of the roadtrain have lit up the sign and the red lines are obviously all the tail lights. Another roadtrain is approaching around a bend in the road and is giving a small trail of white light.
